JCB Leyland engine

Got an old 3c, water has got into engine, still runs fine so thinking piston liner rather than head gasket, think Leyland engines were prone to this ??

Head gasket,cracked or porous liner or liner o-rings leaking. Take the sump off and pressure test first.........

Yes the oil rings at the bottom of the liners are the problem , how bad is it we had that years ago and radweld sorted it for a while

Well oil is halfway up dipstick so fairly bad, thought I might give this a go, nothing to lose??
