I’ll buy certain bits from dealer because it maintains a relationship and it’s them who I’ll be ringing when the thing stops working.

I’m more likely t get a help out or a bit of advice if they know who I am.
Last people I’d phone for breakdown see their hr rates . I just refuse to use them and their is always another way , if more don’t vote with feet expect 100hr in next few years.

In the process of replacing all the chains on our McHale baler. Same chains £150 cheaper from online company than McHale dealer. All diamond premium chain with McHale part numbers on boxes.

Jury still out on them. Haven't arrived yet!

If they are made to the correct spec they will be just as good, they could easily be made to a higher spec without the markup for NH branded box. What is your evidence that they weren’t as good?

Our local NH dealer will ring round for best price on larger items and try to get NH to price match
But still can’t see how oil filter cartridge only is dearer than cartridge and plastic bowl / outer case ?‍♂️

Was the McHale dealer pricing a complete set or adding up the cost of each individual chain? There can be quite a difference in the price. Boss bought a complete set for a Fusion 3 a few weeks ago, ordered with the dealer but arrived in a shipping crate direct from McHale the next day.

Adding cost of each individual chain. The main endless chain was half the price of dealer.

Was through bearing basement. Time will tell they could end up being expensive if they don't last. But been assured there genuine.

I am a big believer in using original bits when servicing and repairing but the line has to be drawn somewhere.

Non at all, but german origin is nothing to write home about nowadays, and price rarely indicates quality any more, what shop was it that couldn't sell shirts at £9 so put the price up to £22 and they then flew off the shelf?... guess people thought they must now be better quality.

I would usually exhaust every other opportunity before ringing the dealer, partly because a different supplier would offer postage without bending me over. I don't like trekking around the countryside picking up parts only to come home with a sore bum....... you notice the costs more if you don't run credit accounts, we pay on the nose for most things nowadays.

worst one we had was two pins for the strimech grab they were 19mm pins about 4inches long with a hole drilled through for a retaining pin.......£90 the pair!!!! A top link pin was less that a tenner. The good thing about paying when you collect is that you can walk away without restocking charges etc, they were a little annoyed by it but couldn't deny it was absolute robbery.

i do like to give the local guys a chance at certain items.... recently bought a drum of JD plus50 II for a shade over £400 quid which I didn't think was too bad.

There's so many fake bearings about I think you'd struggle to know the difference tbh. I always try for FAG or SKF but even then they find counterfeit ones.

Unless Diamond have more than one grade of chain they should last as long as McHale supplied chain.
They're £75 cheaper than McHale for the Fusion 3 set, although their free, standard delivery may not be as fast.

They do have 2 grades premium and sapphire he assured me it was premium. If difference was £75 I would have bought from dealer too. Ours was, dispatched Friday via TNT and he assured me they'd arrive Monday.

Well a bit off topic but We sadly had a fire in a piece of kit a few weeks ago.

Now I got three quotes for repair .

Two small firms very efficient professional job, quote soon came back & close to spot on.

The third, the manufacture, sent two guys out flapped around for yes four hrs.
Quote arrived with many things wrong, about 10 calls later now on MK 3 quote still not right. I have lost the will to progress.

Then a £700 bill arrived. ?
