A quick Google reveals a cat 13t excavator uses a cat c4.4 engine.

Starter available on Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/STARTER-CATERPILLAR-ENGINE-AP255E-8000531/dp/B07NDS9PK4
There you go! That's a Perkins four cylinder. To think that a starter for that costs £6000 is absolutely ridiculous. Someone's been pulling his leg and having a right laugh at his expense for believing such twaddle. The whole engine brand new would probably be around that price.

EDIT
Here's one similar, brand new for £4950+VAT

FFS, right, I wasn't expecting the Spanish inquisition on this one. But then again nobody ever does. I relayed a story first hand from a person who had nothing to gain in any from its telling nor have I.
The man in question is just off the phone with me wondering why I sent him links to starters and I asked him to clarify, so pay attention, we are not making this sh!t up, life is too short.
Customer arrived to him starter in hand with a copy of machine serial number. Starter had stayed engaged to the flywheel and melted / burned / welded itself into oblivion. Customer had already been on to CAT and received the quote. Spark then proceeded to hunt for suitable match based on starter dimensions and machine serial number, no suitable starter could be found. Machine was parked up for three months till second hand one was sourced. These are the facts as told to me he has no reason to lie nor do I.
In a few posts it has become apparent to some that meyself and my associates are full of sh!t and gullible idiots.
It is no wonder that a number of well respected members on this forum have stopped posting.

Cripes, that strikes me as a bargain?

£600 for a starter motor surely, not £6000?

Damaged the front housing of a transmission oil pressure sensor on the front on a JD Powerquad box last month through my own error in not being careful enough when doing another job in that general area. I gave the local JD dealer 120 pounds for said sensor in a JD box to get me going. Gave a quick google that night and saw that I had been royally done - that at around 4x the price that the sensor is available for at 30 pounds!! I am all for a business/individual making a profit but this seems a bit extreme in my opinion.

JCB 550-80 and 560-80 track rods are just over £1000 each plus vat jcb retail.

Dana spicer who make axle is just over £500 retail?

Aftermarket I can supply them at £335 each plus vat?

I think the answers are very helpful cuz HTF can a starter motor for a 4 cylinder engine cost £6K? The posters are trying to save your pal some money, I would be pleased if it was me.

I must be seriously out of touch with prices. Never mind the jcb price, £335 for a track rod. What’s special about it.

Nothing special about it at all really IMO, bit longer and bigger than a normal one thats all. its not even cranked or curved! its dead straight!

I supplied 4 track rod ends for a little old manitou today, Genuine manitou £31 each :scratchhead: :ROFLMAO:
