JCB telehandler hourmeter

Someone else is bound to have had this problem. The hour meters on both of our 526s have stopped working, the backlight still works but there are no digits. Any suggestions? I assume the actual hours are stored elsewhere on the machine so changing the clocks wouldn't zero them? I haven't asked the dealer yet but I'm sure it will be a frightening price.

Our 2005 535.60 lost its hour meter digits over the last three years of its life with us.
But they would re appear if it was worked hard, on the silage pit or a hard day mucking out dung.
We serviced it at the same times every year

It was traded into Kelso and Lothian Harvesters they said that it was a fairly common problem

I have the same problem here. I believe it is a common problem with the 526 clock. I read somewhere that damp could be cause of the problem and putting the heaters on full blast may help restore?? It didn't work here and I'm louthed to pay over £400 for replacement.

did @ACEngineering not have a solution to this. Fitting a seperate meter to engine I think.

Our manitou hour clock and rev counter doesn't work either.

Yes I fit a separate hour clock from the construction spec manitous which are 100% reliable and about £30 plus vat. I tee the feed for the replacement in to the back of the old clock and write the last known hours down then you just add the 2 together.

The proper clocks are about £250 now I think? and they still fail!

Its The display that fails or becomes intermittent and they do randomly show the correct hours from time to time which is why I now leave them connected and fit a second.

Manitou MLA's you can cut a hole in the dash on the left hand side and it fits nicely, 2008 onwards 4 wheel steer manitous have the new style dash boards that have a 12hr day time clock which you take out and bin and fit the engine hr metre in its place, can get the reliable construction hour meters in black face or chrome faces to match the other gauges.

Bought a 535-95 as a 5k hour machine, was messing with the clock and it came up with 3900hrs:) I then fitted a fresh clock off eBay,the revs are out but it clocks up now.

Quite possibly had a new clock already though! I know a Manitou that's had about 5 clocks! estimated hors are 13k plus but clock shows 4k!:ROFLMAO:

TBH we should all be telling JCB to sort this out, as the factory fitted hour meter IS NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.

Warranty or not, they have a moral obligation to fix something they know has failed on the majority of machines that have left their factory.
Charging loyal customers a kings ransom to fix a simple part is frankly a contemptible f**king disgrace.

If anybody still struggling on this there is a guy sells replacement displays on ebay from Ireland, great service but 150 euros. I've since found cheaper. It is a VDO part number A2C00065115 for most of the JCB and Manitou displays I think. Easy to fit.
Can be bought for about 40 euros from this company. https://www.autolux.ee/veesõidukite-lisavarustus/elektriseadmed-veesõidukitele/näidikud-ja-andurid-vdo/lisatarvikud-näidikutele/tahhomeetri-lcd-displei-85mm-andurile-detail

Does the hours go back to zero?

Theres also 2 sizes of display used on manitous both fail.

Tell them about the oil leaks whilst you're there .

My 530/70 the hour meter is fine as it’s analog, but the little LCD display in the speedo only works when it feels like it. To this day I still don’t know what it’s meant to display when it did work, there’s 2 settings on it neither correspond with the hour meter !.
