Only tried a 310 on a pit not good At changing the 320 is a lot better not totally smooth but manageable still does a bit of changing when it doesn't really need to when yard work and I think it revs too hard when general driving

Going to gate crash this topic and ask how hard people think it would be ,to get the joystick mounted on the left hand side?.

The auld man lost his right hand many years ago. In the old days with levers he worked away fine on the handlers but now with fancy electric joysticks, he is struggling a bit.

I was using a 320 recently and noticed it had an off side door , it got me wondering if I could maybe get the joystick shifted over to the left side to suit him a bit better.

Can he not drive a handler with no electric buttons like a jcb 530 series?

A local lad lost his lower arm in a self propelled forager but he still drives one,he has a sort of hoop that clips on for him to hold the joystick.

If you find a tele with a fully electrical joystick there is no reason why it cannot be altered to suit.

the oil over oil jcb could be altered i suppose by lengthening the low pressure pipes in the cab

Hey Lads,
Has anyone ever put the dump on the brake pedal of a 270, I'm thinking about putting in a relay to knock her into neutral when I press the brakes I'll use the brake lights to pull in the relay and wire it thru either the handbrake switch or the dump switch on the joystick.
I should in theory be in neutral with minimum pressure on the brake pedal.

The trouble with such a dump switch can be getting going again. I have been in a awkward spot, holding on brakes, but getting no drive to get out of trouble. End up doing a driving school handbrake start. If you go ahead, fit a switch to disable it. I have thought the best way is disconnect near the top of brake travel but reconnect near the bottom on the way back up. The behaviour has improved over various iterations of manitou we've had, but still far from 100%.

We have a 2005 TM300, here from new. It's done 11200hrs and is universally liked by all.
But she's tiring, and still doing 850hrs/yr, so this thread interests me.
It only has left hand shuttle (option when new) - but our 536 has a shuttle under the joystick, which rarely gets used. Right hand is busy enough, especially when using auxillary services.
The tm and old 530 both have trigger style dump switch, used very regularly and much better to use than the button on the top that the 536 has.
3 gears and auto 4th/5th road gear in the older two - stupid constantly changing 6 speed three mode pile of monkey nuts for a transmission in the 536. The older two both have 11000hrs, the 536 half that - guess which box is the most reliable? Clue - it's not the newest one!
Telehandlers for the most part are multi driver on off machines. They go forward & back, left right up down tip crowd. WHY must they now be dripping in tech that causes more confusion than efficiency.
Our 536 has more oil flow and a comfier cab than the 11yr older 530, and more power (the 530 is tired) but spec wise, the only extra feature of use on the 536 is the constant pumping feature - handy for bedder and brush.
Pivots are no different. Our TM300 is wonderfully simple, reliable, and can be driven by anyone with half an ounce of common sense.
We're loath to part with the old girl tbh. The 2012 536 has had more ailments in the 1500hrs it's done here than the TM has had in 11200.
Hmmmmm.......

Thanks e3120, Yea its probably a good idea to put in a switch to disable the relay, I have a spare rocker switch on the arm rest I'll wire thru that first and that should remove the chances of being caught in that awkward spot. (y)(y)(y)

I still have my year 2000 TM 270 as a back up machine. Love the dump switch on the joystick but have never felt the need to cut the transmission when pressing the brakes. I have this option on my 320S but never have it switched on. This machine also has choice of left hand switch for forward/reverse or a switch on the back of the joystick (where dump switch is on old ones). I never use the left hand switch now and just use the one on the back of the joystick. Knock it into neutral as I approach the diet feeder and rev up to increase lift speed works well for me. Don't miss the transmission dump switch now.
