Sorry, just seen this.
Yes they are my kinda machine:)
What year is it?
Check for ‘nod’ in the slew ring at those hours, you can expect a little, but it’s not good to have too much, if it’s an early one, then you can inspect the slew gear through a plate on the superstructure base plate, next to the lift rams, check the teeth are all there, and also for excessive wear. We had one that loved breaking the teeth off! If it’s a later model, with grey cab, then it’s likely got the extended cowling in front of the rad, unfortunately you have to take this off to get to the inspection plate.

Check it tracks straight, if it wanders, then it’s likely the rotary coupling needs resealing.

You say undercarriage looks ok? It will have been done at some point, at those hours, and it depends to what degree? Make sure the bushes are good and the sprockets not to pointy, and that the bottom rollers aren’t worn and clipping the the chains.

Be nice if the power slide works, IMO they are a fantastic tool, but the power slide, and the advantages it brings, are a big part of their appeal, so if it’s welded up, then it’s like having one arm pinned behind your back!

Be interesting to see where it’s broken? You’d probably pick up a secondhand boom for not a lot, several places to try, Vicary Plant Sales, Eric Warburtons, C W Good & Son

Hope that helps a little :)
It’s broke about 2 foot back from where the dipper is mounted it’s a mates digger and he says it’s right enough, sprockets ain’t too pointy and tracks are tight without the ider being right out, power slide works and hasn’t be welded, they’ve re sealed the lift rams this year on it with a good wash off it would look quite smart tbf, cheers for your advice I couldn’t really check for play in slew ring with the arm being broke

No of course you couldn’t check the nod, sorry, I wasn’t thinking:). Has it broken right off or just split and still hanging on? Very strange to break 2ft back, as that is past the point at which the dipper pivot casting is welded to the boom, so it’s effectively broken at a random point and not on a weld?
As you say, it will likely repair, and be good as new. Massive forces going through that part of the machine, so a good job is imperative. May still be worth pricing a secondhand boom, just so you know what your up against.

If it’s broken right off and not damaged the dipper ram, then it’s very lucky.

It’s still hanging on but is well broken ram looks straight but you can never be to sure, I think il have to take the dipper of to get it home without damaging the ram but shouldn’t be too bad, it’s definitely a funny place for it to break

Are talking the boom 2ft behind the dipper pivot? I had a look at our one today and there is a welded join there and another further back as well. See picture I have posted. I had wondered if there was a fitting or clamp welded near there which might have interfered with integrity and was surprised to find what looks like a join in the side plate.

Yep sorry missed that picture that is more or less spot on where it’s broke as you say must of been a fault in the weld

My mates have a 2cx for sale sitting in my yard... I borrowed it to load the drill after my loader tractor decided to empty all its hydraulic oil from a pipe under the cab that I have yet to get at...

good points. Starts really well, front loader works well.

Bad points. Left brake none existent. Right brake is either nothing or anchored on, once on it's a pig to get it to move again! Basically don't touch the brakes!

Havent tried the arm on the back but believe the slew has a problem.

If you can sort the brakes and the slew it would be a useful tool..

Think he wants about £1k. Shropshire
