JD 131 front mower

I’ve just bought a jd 131 front mower and I noticed where the frame bolts to the mower it can be bolted in two different places mine is bolted at the rear holes but if was to move it to front holes it would be 6” nearer the tractor. Is there any reason why I can’t?

There is a reason, which escapes me right now.. is it in the operators manual??

Would you still have clearance when turning if it was 6” nearer the tractor?

Yes there is over 12” of clearance the way it is. It was on a deutz tractor the last owner had it I’m putting it on a t7.
