JD 2140 clutch problems

Hello people,

I have a JD 2140 (4wd cab).

It has been sat for a few months not used but when I started using it I had clutch problems….

I have changed both master and slave cylinders and bled the clutch (that was not an easy task) but all working fine but the clutch doesn’t seem to be engaging at all? I’m hoping someone else has been through the same issue and can help?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Now Then...
It isn't engaging??
You press the pedal, select a gear using the 2 gear levers, let the clutch pedal up and the tractor remains stationary??
I assume it was fine when last used??

Well here’s the thing. It’s still going into gear (quite roughly) but pressing the clutch pedal doesn’t seem to be doing anything. On further inspection last night while pressing the clutch and watching the slave, the slave is moving but the leaver that the slave piston going into for the clutch itself doesn’t seem to move a great deal approximately 5-10mm?

While driving around in low gear selecting between 1-4 is fine at the right revs but in high gear it’s grinding a lot. Pressing the clutch while driving doesn’t do anything doesn’t give me just revs it just drives like it would not pressing the clutch.

It’s been sitting 5-6 months not being used

Does the clutch pedal feel right?? There should be very little free play..
Is the master cylinder rod adjusted correctly??
If it has the gear levers mounted on the right hand console, have you bled the clutch system from the interlock on top of the shift cover??
Where did you source your parts??
Are you using proper brake fluid (Dot 3 / 4 type stuff)
Depending on the age/serial number, there's a difference in how the slave cylinder fits onto the bracket and clutch arm... Put a good, well lit picture on here..

You say you've bled the clutch?
I has a job getting all the air out of the last one I bled, until I slackened the banjo on the end of master cylinder, loads of air seemed to be trapped there.
