Currently struggling through harvest with a 2254, just wondering what output gain I would get going to a 6 walker with 20ft header. What’s a good days cutting in spring barley with one? Or tons per hour maybe fairer to compare.

I think the only difference between yours and his will be horse power, perhaps a little tweak might make things run more smoothly!Have a 2256 with 16ft header (which isnt wide enough she would handle a 20ft) - she will comfortably cut 4acres per hr or 30-40 ac per day moving fields once or twice.
Yielding 2.5-3t / ac of spring barley as a guide.
Sounds like yours isnt set up right ??
The key is sieves open more than you dare, plenty of wind, drum only just tight enough to thrash the heads and push her on hard- you dont want the smash the straw up and overload the sieves.
The 2254 could be lacking horsepower limiting how hard you can push her.
Maybe I could be pushing harder, I do like to shave the stubble pretty short as straw is all needed, I cut around 2.5mph give or take depending on bulk of crop. Drum speed about 1000, fan 1150 and concave setting 14.Have a 2256 with 16ft header (which isnt wide enough she would handle a 20ft) - she will comfortably cut 4acres per hr or 30-40 ac per day moving fields once or twice.

Would not say I find it struggling power wise, normally only need to slow down when the loss monitor is sitting too high. Do seem to be chucking a bit more than I’d like over the back this year, straw is clean an stripped But there’s a few grains on the ground. I am a combine novice so all helpful pointers great fully received!I think the only difference between yours and his will be horse power, perhaps a little tweak might make things run more smoothly!
More concave as in tighten it up?Try alittle less rpm and abit more concave ?
