Jd 2520 rear spool issues

I have a 2520 hst, I bought a tipping trailer on Friday and after hitching up and connecting to the rear spool hit a problem, the rear spool works by flicking a switch and using the front loader joystick to control, the tipping trailer raises fully with ease, but when lowering gets half way down on the 2 stage drop and then just stops! When I release the pipe it’s still under pressure, the guys who I bought the trailer from suggest altering the pressure, but I’m not sure This is possible? I’m a complete amuture when it comes to tractors

Now Then..
What switch is this??
Do you have a loader on??
Do you have 4 female couplers in front of rear wheel under the step??
If you have no loader, you should use the green Coupler and pull the loader lever back to tip. Push it forward into the float position to let the trailer down..

Thanks for the reply, the switch changes the loader control lever so that the up and down control the rear spools, yes I have a loader fitted, the hose connection from the trailer is bigger than the hose connections for the loader so I can’t test it on the loader connections? The rear 2 spools are the right size?

Who fitted the changeover valve as I couldn't see that it's a JD thing last night.
When you let your trailer down, have you pushed the control lever into the float position??

It looks a factory fitted thing but not sure, I purchased it used and it was ex council owned so could have been added.
What’s float position? The lever seems to work by pulling back to raise the trailer and pushing forward and slightly right to lower? The trailer came with both a male and female socket, as the tractor is piped with a female socket at the back I added the male, does this make any difference? Thanks for your help!

I assume the hydraulics work by pushing pressure to raise the trailer, and releasing the pressure to lower? I have tried turning the tractor off and then switching on the ignition and pushing the lever for the trailer to drop but nothing, when it drops it gets to the 1st drop and stop suddenly, I have managed to get it down by releasing all the oil from the pipe and banging the trailer up and down?

It’s not just sticking on the trailer ram by any chance. Ie not enough weight to push the oil back into tractor. Old Ferguson trailers are particularly slow to drop especially if the oil is cold and hence thicker.

I don’t think so, I have tried bouncing the trailer, pulling on it etc, it’s only a 1 tonne trailer. It’s as though either the tractor isn’t reducing the oil pressure enough to let the ram close past the 1st drop, or there is a problem with the ram, the guys who I bought it from suggest it is a pressure issue, and to adjust the pressure, but I don’t know how to do this, and if it’s at all possible?

Could the trailer ram have a parachute valve fitted. Had this on joskin trailers, if body lowered too quickly the valve would lock, had to lift slightly then feather valve to lower slowly.
