JD 2650 pto stopped working

Any ideas? Disengaged while turning hay, to go through a gate. Re- engaged and had no drive. PTO spins but can stop it by hand. Same for 540 and 1000. Any suggestions appreciated.

Guess that linkage to shift cover has come a drift, under the panel between your feet when sat on the seat, if the high / low is not working or dash lights on ,be more serious.

All outside linkages etc, appear intact, must have sheared some sort of over run clutch inside.

We had a JD3050 which acted up similar to yours , it turned out to be the hydraulic pack which drives the pto had come adrift . You could give Nick Young (tractor parts) a ring , he may be able to point you in the right direction , 01673 828883 .

If the PTO spins freely then the brake isn't engaging either. Could be a fault in the shift cover or one of the oil supply pipes to it.

Is the FWD or HiLo still functioning? Are you having any juddering through the steering, 3pt linkage or spools?

Had the same on my 3050. PTO Clutch had gone. Tractor splitting job.
