JD 590 net issue

Asking on behalf of a customer, not had chance to see it myself so details a little sketchy.

It's starting its wrapping process in auto but the actuator ram isn't travelling the full stroke so not dropping the net in properly. Plus there's and extra prolonged beep from the box when there normally isn't.

If you open and close the actuator manually it travels the full stroke and drops the net in.

Either actuator has I tight spot in its travel or the voltage is dropping.
Is the control box wired to the battery? Also check the connections on the actuator for corrosion.

Don't think it's a power issue. Direct to batter via Anderson connector.
also it travels the full distance properly in manual.

In auto the controller looks at how many amps the actuator is pulling to stop it at the end of its stroke, if it’s tight or low voltage it will cut out early. Manually overrides it.

I gather any old JD belt baler is a potential nightmare. I only bale a handful with a 550 every year. Amazing for it's age when working but an absolute quimbacile when not feeding or netting properly.
Just spent the past 4 hours trying to keep our 550 going! Main gearbox sheard the bolts off and fell off, then the net rap cut switch was p!issng about ?
even worse when there’s two in the field

I cut my teeth on a 550 and then a 580 as above they were brilliant balers when they would feed and made a beautiful bale but by christ they could try your patients when you couldn't get them to feed and get the bale to start. Never had any net trouble with them thought but i think they're the reason I'm bald at 34!!!!![emoji24][emoji26]?

When my old 590 done this very same trick it was the actuator playing up so all we done was took the one off the twine arm and swapped it with the net one, cured the issue so worth a try.
