Just had a 6155r on demo, I’m not much of a JD man so excuse lack of terminology, it had the gearbox with the little stick you just click through or switch over to auto and use the pedal, it had GPS (which was impressive) nice armrest with large screen and 50k on road, I was told that demo tractor could stay on farm for 86k if that’s any help.

2017 tractor, 2016 loader, when was the quote?
I was surprised at how "cheap" the loader was! Says the man whose main tractor is worth less than said loader!
As an aside my neighbour has a new 6130R and loader, changed from 6430 premium,1100 hours in four years, what would that have cost?!!!!!!!

So folks are spending another £30k on toys ?

What are the toys BTW ?

I can only think of air con, suspension, and radio....:ROFLMAO:
Climate control, front axle suspension, front linkage, extra lights, autosteer (or autosteer ready), extra spools, electric spools, hyd top link, cvt gearbox, headland management etc etc not to hard to find another £30k of stuff.

There always seems to be big variations on price on here.
When you price a tractor do you get the dealers best price 'on farm' no trades etc and then decide trade price for your old machine, if you have one.
Or say straight out I have this I want this how much to change?
Our buying process takes 1 to 3 months. We pit dealers against each other, negotiate, haggle, let the dealers call back to us to drop the price etc. If you go buying straight away, you'll lose a pretty penny. Mf dealer told that 6718 Dyna-Vt's best trade-in price would be 92k€, he came to visit us one day and i said that if he wants the deal the price must be starting with a 7. He agreed to 79k€, but dad had already bought the Maxxum 15minutes before (which i didn't know). Mf dealer would've gotten the deal if he would've made a decent offer sooner (mostly because dad's always ran Masseys). Well, no regrets on my end, Maxxum was still 14k€ cheaper and has a much more pleasant cab.

Maybe the Mf dealer will remember this next time.

That used to buy another tractor!
Quite a few years ago, times change and until robots come along farmers will need to buy tractors, some will buy new. If we all just sit with rose tinted spectacles on reminiscing about the good old days when tractors were cheaper and the industry hadn't gone to pot then we as an industry we wont progress fast at all. Even at my age (28) where all my similar aged friends have only ever had tractors with cabs, radios and comfy seats I spent quite a few years on a farm with cabless tractors or cabs with no air con or radio (put me off david browns for life!) so I have seen and experienced how things were before aircon and all the other 'toys' became the norm. Now I have a tractor with a cvt gearbox, autosteer, air conditioning, a great seat and most of the other toys it could have and I think it's worth every penny. Its far better than any tractor of say 20-30 years ago, its a nice place to spend all day in when needed and at the end of the day you still feel reasonably fresh and awake, your not covered in dust, hot, tired, aching from a crap seat/ride etc.
Tractor prices have gone up, we will have to live with that so not a lot of point moaning about it. Even if every single farmer and contractor got together and said we wont buy a new tractor for 2 years I doubt much would change as the UK is such a small market and the chance of getting every tractor buyer in the uk to work together and not buy anything is zero.

Trouble is, I'll be a buyer for these speced up tractors...........in 15-20 years time.
I'm something of an expert on second, or even third hand stuff, and I know that leccy spools and headland management will cause me grief. I just hope there's some folks buying basic models now. Otherwise I'll have to import something from India.

I agree these current tractor prices are getting silly....
But I tend to think people are getting a wee bit caught up in these prices.
As a contractor who earns a living from running tractors etc.. the buy price is relevant, but not end all. When buying machinery the most important thing to me is the interest payable over the term, (putting up 25% cash) and a realistic residual value at 3 or 4 years.
This gives us a true cost of operating over this period. And if course all warrantied over the period.
This is of course putting work of at least 1000 hours a year minimum.
When tractors are doing around 1000-1500 hours a year, the operating cost/hour changes bugger all.
If we were not doing these hours
I wouldn’t even bother getting quotes for new tractors under a Contracting business.
In this instance we would lease or subcontract out.
