JD 6310 Hydraulic problem

Above tractor has lost its hydraulic lift and spool function. I’ve cleaned the suction filter and new filters and looked clean and it’s made no difference.

Steering and brakes work fine. No spool flow and lift arms barely move. If you put the tractor on full steering lock and then hold the lock the arms come up faster and then Fall away if you take off lock. Guess that’s the priority system at work here. I’m guessing she’s got an internal leak as opposed to pump failure. Any further ideas of anything to pin point the fault?

Thanks I’m advance.

Some years ago, the main pump completely failed , that was changed , but in a few months some metal debris came and jamed and damaged the priority valve, I've put a new spool.in the priority housing, the loader works fine, but the trailer brakes don't really pressurise properly with out s slight turn of the steering, and the lift arms won't lift more than about half the weight.

Was that a whole priority vale valve part? Or a rebuild kit ?

Someone said to me i could turn the pump up to more flow and if things start functioning again it would point at the priority valve.

Expensive part to change with out being sure 🤯

I just put in the spool only in the priority valve block .I had to ream out the internal hole with fineEmery cloth to get it to move. It's a complicated system, as there's lowish pressure in the system all the time, and on demand the pump kicks in.

If I had to hazard a guess I’d say the hitch valve is cracked.
Slide the left hand scv off then check for a hairline crack in the pressure gallery that runs down the centre of the hitch valve (the one with the motor on top)

Ok - if that cracked that would cause these symptoms ? Is the crack causing loss of pressure or the oil flow to divert ?(excuse my ignorance)

It will cause loss of pressure and flow to everything after the priority valve, so steering and brakes will work but hitch, scv’s, trailer brakes etc will not function properly.

Ok thank you - well that sounds very much like the symptoms.

If that has failed and has a crack - the scv’s wouldn’t be affected when re building?

Had the same thing replaced on our 6310 when we bought it. When looking at it in dealers yard, you could hear it pumping constantly. He swapped the casting with another tractor in the yard, and it fixed the issue. Not sure what the cause is.

I got the pressure washer on the tractor today as wanted to clean it down before start taking things apart.

Took the cab floor out so I could steam under there as I need really to replace a pipe which goes to the accumulator under the left wheel. Does anyone one know if I need to tilt the cab for this? It’s not the short pipe unfortunately.

With the cab floor was up and driving the tractor I noticed in power quad no 2 it sounded a bit noisy, almost like a rattle or a failed bearing type noise. Changing Quad gears 134 it didn’t make this noise. Any thoughts? I’ve never really heard it before but I guess the floor muffled it.

Perhaps it’s the 6000 hour party trick of everything is going to fail imminently [emoji85]

Is that as I stand at the back and look at the right of the tractor - the spool scv that is my number 3 for the pick up hook ?
Yes standing at the back, scv no3

Section gears can have a bit of a whine to it when the cab floor is up so I wouldn’t worry to much about that.
Is it the metal pipe to the accumulator or one of the rubber hoses that run under the cab?
