JD 6330 problem

My father in law has a JD 6330 standard tractor.

If its used for about an hour it will give 3 beeps(i think) no lights or codes and derate to no power. Let it sit a while and it will go well for a bit and do the same. Goes well when going right.
No lights or codes on dash.

Had independent Jd mechanic at it and not getting any codes or error codes when plugged in.

My general feeling is it warms up and derates, cools a bit and then repeats, possibly gearbox temp? as engine doesnt seem to run hot at all.
Any ideas what could be problem?
I'm no JD expert.

@Phil P ,@NZ Tech ,@Tractortech any input?

Thanks

When you switch the ignition on and it does the lamp test are all the warning lights working on the dash? Could be giving a warning but the bulb on working!
Sounds temperature related if only doing it after been worked, is the coolant up to max and flowing through the charge cooler? Also I’ve known the suction gauze to become blocked in the tank with debris, you stop if and the debris drops off then collects again causing the same problem to keep repeating.

Is there a vacuum in the fuel tank?
Dont think so, will tell him to run with slack cap, or swap with his other one. Would a vacumn cause the dash to beep a few times?

I havent been at it but my brother in law has cleaned all rads at the front , and checked the fluids etc. Will check the bulbs on dash, hadn't thought of that.

It runs about yard with loader on no bother, loaded an artic of barley no problem yesterday, carting silage or baler and its a countdown waiting to go wrong.

I thought fuel related/debris but the longer you leave it the longer you get before it happens again, which makes me question that. Also it pulls 100% till it derates, no slow decline.
Does a derate in power record a code on a standard?
As said, I am a JD novice

It should record some codes, but it won’t be a common rail on that if I remember right? So won’t be as much recorded.

It does sound temperature related from what you’re describing, I’d check the charge cooler isn’t air locked. Easy way to check is give it a short run at full revs, if you can’t touch the charge cooler (metal box on the inlet) it’s got an air lock.
easiest way to bleed it is remove the pipe to the top of the cooler and wait until coolant come out the cooler. It’s best to clamp the pipe.

If you're concerned about any bulbs, the glow plug lamp is the one to check.
It should be on at bulb check. If there's an engine issue, it will flash. It will also record the code. If it derates the engine power, 001569.31 will also be present. These codes can't be read from the display unit. Service Advisor or a Performance Monitor will read them..
The fuel tank cap when removed will make a hiss which is often be mistaken for vacuum in the tank. They do run with a slight positive pressure in the tank. It's all to do with not spilling in an overturn.
Check the coolant level, it must be at Max. Any less it's possible to get air in the low temperature circuit. The charge air will be sensed as hot and derate.
All fuel lines should be dry, filters including the screen in tank clean. Sediment bowl O Ring in place etc..

A 6330 standard is a 2 valve HPCR engine. The premium tractor uses a 4 valve HPCR

Thanks for the help guys.
Will check the cooler as suggested, never knew about that possibility.
Knowing my father in law it's quite possible it was ran low on coolant!! :banghead: :banghead:
Everything seems in order fuel wise though the screen in the tank hasn't been checked.
It's deffo the 2valve engine, the local indy lad couldn't read any codes with his software which I assume was JD based, so I wondered if they stored much codes.
Will pass on the info as I try to stay out of his machinery problems!! :D:D

Update on this!

According to my not mechanically minded father in law,
some of the dash lights werent working, think a plug not in or correctly in, possibly after changing a spring in the steering column?
Then a wire to the water in diesel sensor on the filter was rubbed through and earthing. According to ex JD now Kubota mechanic who was at it (and knew what to look for) that should have put on a light and recorded a code but with plugs not connecting properly it wasnt.
Wire fixed and lights on dash working and shes good again. 😎😎
Thanks to you guys for the input.
