JD 6430 Premium Ap, what to look out for?

There's a 2011 6430 (Premium) Autopower on sale at decent price. 50km/h, frontloader etc. 2600h from first owner. Anything in particular to look out for? Iirc there isn't head gasket problems with the 4 pot ones. It'd serve as our third tractor, so should be doing something like 400-600 hours/year.

Even though it's Premium it still has manual spools, probably was a thing ten years back that Premium didn't automatically mean electric spools? :scratchhead:

Sounds like a good tractor hard to find. Head gaskets on 4 cylinders go though should be OK for a while yet. Have an 08 premium with manual spools unfortunately not autopower.

Yes, atleast on paper and pics it's a gem. Only gripe is that it has road tyres on. Will go look at it this week, since it's under 20km away. Would be quite a great pocket rocket with enough juice to pull 4f reversible plough, spread manure, pull 6,3m rollers (without using the crossboard) etc.

You dont mention what 4f plough but ive a standard 6330p and she handles a 5f dowdeswell every bit as capably as my 6630p albeit a gear or two slower.

Kuhn Multi Master. Even our 5610 Massey handled it well enough, so should be easy for a 127hp JD.

We have 2 of them both 6430 premiums. Great tractors. Both bought used and have been very little bother.
Both Power Quad though.
From what i understand, the Autopower should be pretty good on the 30 series. Only need to beware over-revving it (if it was even possible to over-rev it in 30 series). We've a very basic 6630 and while it's a bit rough it has served us pretty well for the last 12 years.

What to look for..... gosh there's quite abit - are you able thoroughly inspect on dealers yard or try it in anger? Afew things on these only come to light when they are worked. Although hours are low, there may be several age related items.

Visual things:

-inner wings and back of the main wings, especially down by the steps - rust rust rust. Often it will be visible on the front by the steps
- fuel lines - any damp? These are practically a service item due to bio diesel content and JD's propensity to make poor quality rubber! Many running problems are cured by replacing these with good quality R6 lines.
- any oil leaks on the tractor - there shouldn't be any.
- have a look through the CC at fault codes. There will be some logged in many modules unless someone's been there and cleared them for you! Particularly a 1569.31 in the ECU which is turbo vanes sticking- ultimately a new turbo. £££££.
- front axle dog bone & steering knuckles -unlikely at those hours but check anyway. Also if the TLS accumulators have burst - the front axle should be nice & supple over bumps.

Any warranty ? The AP is robust in the 30series if its been serviced and not mistreated. If the tractor presents pretty well after a good dig around it (not just polished up) I'd get it bought and budget for afew items (depending on how fussy you are) to bring it to A1.

Look out for someone else buying it before you get there!! BTW i can't find it on Internet :(
That's probably because you aren't looking at Finnish websites. 😅 Will be having a look at it today. Brother is on the job to figure out the original owner (he knows lots of people on the communal contracting, as the Deere has probably been used at that hence the road tyres) to ask some questions.

Warranty will be a long stretch on 10 year old machine, but we'll have 14 days to find out the possible faults and back off of the deal. Need to take it out for a drive and see how the gearbox behaves. If it's been f*cked up in 2600 hours, then probably there'll be even more things wrong with the tractor.

Head gaskets do go.
Many years ago step-son arrived back in his yard to find dealers men just putting the bonnet back on his 2130 and the ensuing conversation went like this:
”What are you doing.”
”We just changed your head gasket.”
”There‘s nothing wrong with the head gasket.”
”You are Nigel P***?”
”No, I’m Nigel P****. Nigel P*** farms next door.”

Can't think you'll have much to worry about with them hours on it .

Our 6430 power quad is re-mapped to the moon (160 at the shaft ) since basically new now on 5000 hrs and never put a foot wrong

I just wish it was an autopower!!!!!!!

It was in good condition, Autopower worked great and no fault codes in computer (only active faullt was low fuel). No leaks of oil or coolant, a bit of rust on the steps but that's not alarming. Rear end has barely had anything hitched on ever. Was on 24" and 34" wheels, so those might need to be swapped, didn't remember to look for the width of the rims. :scratchhead: I quite liked it to be honest, salesman knocked 3500€ off the asking price, but old man will check it out and strike a deal if he finds it good for his use.

There were glue marks left from peeled stickers from which i was able to find out which company owned it. Will give them a call.
