Thankyou so a LS 90 should be fine then by the sounds ?Now Then..
If the manual says Hygard, then Hygard is the correct oil....
This comes up often. The axle will leave the axle factory with gear oil in as that's what the axle factory put in all the axles. It's usually changed at the first and subsequent services for Hygard..
The thinking from JD is that the customer only needs 2 oils to service the machine, Hygard and Plus 50... It won't matter a hoot which oil you put in, either Hygard or XEP 80W/90 (Morris oils product for instance). Just be sure any gear oil is of the 'limited slip differential' type
But it won't harm anything if I put it in ?If you feel the need for LS90 then yes. Thicker oil will use more engine power than the thinner Hygard when on the road but one would think it's negligible..
Yeah I think your right I just thought the thicker oil would be better for itJust buy some hyguard and you know its right
Thanks for that from what I can make out it doesn't really matter but zf axles prefer LS90 oil, but I've put hyguard in now just to be on the safe sideI've got LS90 in my 2004 JD 6420 and it is fine.
