JD Beacon brain scratcher !

I have bought a second hand 6115r with twin beacons . The beacons fitted are Britax , the poles they mount on look genuine John Deere . Neither lit but both I think did rotate . New bulbs fixed the one but not the other . Swapping the good one to either side and it still works while the oppossite is true of the bad one , the bad one now doesn't rotate either .
Took bad one apart to see if wire is disconnected but all seems fine , hook it up to battery charger and it works although it does spin slower than the good one . Tried it on my other 6r and it still did not work and so presumed as it spins slower it must be on its way out and so went and bought identical new one , this again would not work on the tractor even though it's the exact make and model of the one that does work ! Tried the new one on battery charger and it works but tried it on my 6125r and it doesn't work !
Put the genuine John Deere beacons off my 6125r onto the 6115r and they work !
And so there seems to be nothing wrong with either tractor . Is it that John deere poles are not compatible with generic beacons but if so how come the one works !
Spoke with the dealer but they can't work it out

Had this on a j/d few months ago, worked, stopped, worked, so slackened off clamp, switched it on and twisted beacon back and forth, now ok, so either bad earth or live contact, if that fails take close look at pole.

It’ll be a bad earth. Genuine may have slightly better metal forconnections so doesn’t suffer as bad . 10 mins with good electrical cleaner will sort it

Now Then..
You may need to tweak the centre contacts in the pole. I've seen them become tired and not grip the centre pole of the light enough. Or, as previously suggested, give it a twist on the pole..

Already tried twisting it and bending out the contacts , it makes no difference. If it was earthing you would think the above might get it to work for a second . Also it would need to be bad earth on all four beacon mounts between the two tractors . None the less I can't see what else it can be other than Britax beacons aren't compatible but some how the one britax has been bonded to work

Check the power wire coming out of the cab isn't corroded or rubbed through where it connects to the pole
That wouldn't explain why a JD beacon would work on that pole though and the Britax wouldn't work anywhere on either JD , it will however work on my Weidemann  Eitherway I know have to take the pole of and have a look because I tried to clean the contacts up and now it won't work with any beacon !

i had a similar issue, just wasn't pushed down hard enough on the pole, Felt like it was going to break, popped into the dealers on the way past and they assured me it was fine, loosened clamp, shoved down real hard and it worked a dream, damn mechanical sympathy

This tractor is for Thomas hence twin beacons are essential as will be chrome mirrors , twin whips etc !
I tried not to spec twin beacons on my 6125r , my wife told me I was a miserable old git as well as a disappointment to my children 😂
Round here you need twin beacons, a full width roof mounted led beacon bar and twin whips to have a chance of being "with it" :scratchhead: :scratchhead:
I see its a weight box with led markers on it thats the new must have.
Some of them are giving the Coca Cola truck a run for its money.

What about the farm name on a number plate or a window sticker??!! 😉
Or has that been superseded by led lights??!!

He told me he wasn't going to have a number plate with his name on it as that's a bit Chav ! I struggle to keep up to be honest , anyway problem solved . JD beacons have a thicker centre pin , once you put one of those on it pushes the contact clips out too wide for a Britax one with a narrower pin , squeeze them back together and problem solved until you fit another jd beacon . I guess with age the clips lose some of their spring .

Oh yes, forgot to mention that! :banghead:
Either a number plate or a sunstrip with the name on.
My old NH only has the one beacon, and sometimes I don't put it on, so I guess I'll never be able to join the blinged tractor club. ;) ;)
My boys are too young to be at that nonsense yet.

I think it’s an east coast / arable thing putting your farm name on your tractor!! 😉
(Just in case you forget your way home/ what farm you come from?!)
