JD direct drive

Yes they have not got a very good reputation. If you are looking at one to buy then insist on seeing its service/ maintenance history to see what mods/ faults it’s had.

Agree, I never had a problem with the gear box, I did have the bigger circles put in when the cab was off sorting a problem with the Tls, that's been a bigger issue than the direct drive ever was .

I had a direct drive new in 2014 it had to be split 3 times in 3500 hrs. Glad I took the powerguard warranty. Lovely gearbox to use but second hand value isn’t great. The local dealers around here don’t want them secondhand.

The hate for the direct drive baffles me a bit as if you look over the fence at cnh camp is the dynamic command not essentially the same design of transmission and all you hear is folk raving about them mostly

I've had 2 6175's both with DD . First one came and went with no problems at all. The 2nd one had a gasket go between the 2 halves of the gearbox and then while it was in there was a mod done on some bearings so all it cost was some replacement transmission oil.
Ordered a third with DD for April delivery but received a call from the dealer saying they couldn't get DD boxes until September by which time it would be the new 6r along with its price increase.
JD then offered autopower at no extra cost so going with that although have specced command pro for an additional £1500.

I haven't heard anything about dynamic command. Good or bad.

Don't see many used tractors for sale with that gearbox.

JD dealers were really pushing direct drive last time I was buying a tractor. Didn't want it.
