Spoke to JD dealer a few days ago and he said that they had a good day last friday selling 26 tractors that day over the 2 depots [Somerset/Devon}!!! Seems JD were putting up prices 4% on Monday followed by 2% coming up in November so dealer phoned round and told customers and they got that result !
Also they have managed to export 20 tractors since Bretix due to better pound/euro. Its been nearly 2 years since they last managed to export anything.
Guess the other firms are doing similar ref price rising ??

Rea valley tractors did a lot of European exporting a few years ago when the currency worked out right. They are largely under new management now!

Either they have a few fleet sales or they have just ordered 26 tractors for stock before the price rise, which is pretty commonplace for stocking dealers.
Total Bull pooh Duck!!!!!!!!!. Talked to their rep today at a local show and this is 100% correct and all sold to customers and not stock orders. And the company involved have meet this year's sales targets already and are really happy as are the other Devon / Cornwall dealership that had one hell of a good time also and a very ,very busy time collecting order's before the price increases.
Good on them as both are excellent top notch dealers that go above and beyond on service.

What crisis! Plenty of scope to squeeze farm gate prices yet, obviously.

Perhaps most are going to contractors? Work still needs to be done and large contractors need to constantly turn over their fleet and their income, as long as they can collect it, doesn't fluctuate as much or is less linked to farm income, in the short term at least. Some farms will always change tractors as needed too of course, but the trade generally is substantially down across Europe.

Might make sence in some circumstances, probably a few with the cash sitting in an account earning nowt, could be having a new tractor with 5 years warrenty for an effective cost of £1000 a year,
who knows, on past history inflation could cancel out the depreciation.Certainly ours hve normally been sold at of near their purchase price when finished with

Always check your watch after asking a salesman the time .................
4% + 2% = increase in sales ...................
