Clarkson is no idiot, no bumbling petrol head, no baffoon. He is a very clever man.

You see on telly what he wants you to see.

This could go either way, don't think for a minute that he is doing this out of the goodness of his heart for the plight of British agriculture, he is in this to make money. Only he knows what slant he will put on things, he will sell his farm experience to please the audience.

He may turn out not be our saviour...

Oh wonderful.
A petrol head plonker of a man, famous for taking the p!ss out of concern for the environment, is to be the new poster boy for UK agriculture. Throwing his non-farming money about and giving the impression that, hey ho, plenty more where that came from. Just what we need.

and I didn't say plonker.
I think you might be surprised,at what he does ,

From what I have read it appears he’ll be travelling the world doing this too. A “Grand Farm Tour” if you will, including bits of his farm and bit late of others.

Like I said before, the Clarkson sword will be double edged.

A big thumbs up to the documentary he did about Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and for another one
abouth the WW2 Artic convoys. As has been stated before, an enthusiastic presenter is better than
an over-qualified one. There are too many presenters these days who just turn up not knowing
anything on their subject, but the TV companies use them because their "face fits". rant over.
I know he acts the prat in top gear but his war documentaries are superb, the one on the raid on saint nazire is top class. I'd rather have him on our side than not

Absolute drivel ! The man is an entertainer and has a huge following. We should be very thankful he is on our side and not against us . If he throws his fortune towards supporting our industry then good on him . If he put his fortunes the vegan way it would be disastrous for us .

Indeed, the only fools are those who think Clarkson is a fool.

Taking the p!ss out of environmental concerns or pointing to the obvious flaws in the pseudo greens push for ever greater profits?

just a question
why is everyone so focussed on Clarkson being the "saviour" ?
Yes, I enjoyed him on Top Gear ( stopped watching it after the 3 of them left ) , have read some of his books & watched his documentaries
Yes, he is no fool & is a very good presenter in his own style

But . . . .

He does come across & cultivates the image of being a bit of a buffoon, of being an environmentally "unaware" petrol head, of being a right wing red neck, even a bit of a "dinosaur".
Is this the image you want to put forward of the modern UK farmer ?
Don't most in the UK already think farmers are out-dated right wing planet destroyers ?

Im not knocking Clarkson, but he is making this show for entertainment, for money & from his particular "world view". While it might align & resonate with many, it does concern me that it may just perpetuate current negative stereotypes of UK agriculture . . .

It's not a question of him being 'the saviour ' but the issue is he has got influence and most of us would rather that influence was for us and not against us .! If he wants to make himself richer out of entertainment that's up to him but at least he is putting some of his money into seeing exactly as it is and while I don't doubt he will see a certain amount of favour because who of he is I still think it's good for someone with influence to see and experience first hand the problems in the Ag sector and not be shy to speak out about it .

And... one could argue therefore why the real world farmers of favour of some, are not liked by others, nor have they driven the real image / impacts of farming into the publics faces. Not many real world farming programmes that I have seen actually drive the plight of farming deep so the circle continues.

In today's world - there is a complete disconnect in everything, we are unable to focus on the facts, because everyone else knows better and disputed everything put on the table.

The only thing "going for us" in this is the simple fact Clarkson actually bought and runs a farm.
Regardless of how hands on he is.

We have no idea at this stage how his show will be 'done'... BUT I think it is safe to say he is not intentionally setting out to do harm to an industry he has wholly bought and invested into.
I may be wrong but I believe he is doing this for our good, as I think it is something he genuinely believes in.

And yes as has been said - ignore Top Gear and watch the other factual documentaries he has done.

Because we have no one else to rally behind! (Other than James Martin's programmes maybe)
Industry bodies are doing F all after all
