It's both.

I suspect it will mainly be a mobile catching pen with calving gate / yoke although it will be used around the village for halter walking up to six and I may choose to move small mobs locally.

Mainly it will save me lifting , carrying, setting up, dismantling, lifting, carting and stacking heavy hurdles in the future

Guess you can`t use them on dual carriageways though......well, not without at least 2 flashing beacons...

I don't fancy a dual carriageway at cow walking pace. Although it's narrow enough to be legal

Yep. I have a hang on front trough and I've seen a few moving cows in Germany with someone riding the rear gate to start

I have moved them a bit in the cow catcher, they tend to stop and you have to watch you don't catch their heels

I've noticed a few German models have a low down heel bar. Mine will have my gate in frame (two settings : transport and down on ground)

we used round bar as much as we could, make sure there is nothing they can catch themselves on.
I soon found with the cow catcher that it was no good to chase them with it as its surprising how quickly they can stop,

I made a cushion out of a very long plastic bag stuffed with old net wrap to go along the bottom bar at the back.
we have a head gate in that much the same as you have with a gate to get them in it, found it very useful for things like AI and the odd jab, bad eye, whatever

Leccy fence wire across the back, like on the backing gates used in dairy collecting yards, would keep them moving.

Put a bigger fencer on and you could stick it on a Fastrac.

If you're back, could you get a few more close up photos of the steel rack in the back ground that is in the second last photo, I see some of the steel is placed horizontally and some vertically, I'm wondering how they done it.

Just had a lightbulb moment. No weight issues with towing this - I could move half a dozen cattle behind my quad bike.
