Morning everyone, sad day here our pet Jersey house cow was dead when Maria went out to get it in to feed the calves this morning. I can't do much as I'm still not good with the leg injury but we could do with a replacement asap as I have two hungrey calves and a very upset partner.
I anyone's got an in milk or soon to calve Jersey they are willing to sell or know of any Jersey herds I can contact please could you let me know.
@llamedos if this needs moving to the wanted section please move it, just thought I may have more folk looking on here

Thanks in appreciation

Yes , absolutely gutted, poor Maria is distraught
She's had mastitis since she calved ands been off her food, the vets been out twice and she's had antibiotics and tubes, no way I expected her to die though

Sorry to hear that, that's a real shocker, :(hopefully you get a replacement and she takes the calves and goes on to be a worthy successor!

Sorry to hear of your loss.
How long calved?
Flush of fresh grass.
Stress of mastitis and calves.
Milk fever?

Milk fever?
Been calved about three weeks I think, lost track of time with being in hospital. She hadn't struggled at all just laid dead, gave her a bottle of calcium when she was first ill as a precaution but she's not been giving much milk with being ill.
Was a classhy night so maybe but as there was no sign of a struggle I don't know

Posted this on Livestock for sale and wantd but drew a blank so will try again here!

My 88 year old father has just lost his Jersey cow which grazed the paddock in front of his house with a couple of nurse calves. It gave hm a reason to get out of the house and harkens back to when he was milking.
Accordngly I am lookng for a replacement, I have in mind a good temerament youngish cow that hasn't made the grade in the dairy but would do a job rearing calves.
Reasonable proximety to North Somerset would be an advantage.
