Jf860 forage harvester

Has anybody any experience with using a jf side mounted forage harvester. I'm thinking of purchasing a new one as I think it would be a good job on steep ground. I do have a brand new unused class 51 precision chop that's been sitting in the back of a shed here for over 20 years. I just don't want to use this harvester as I think the jf860 would be more suitable. Had been using a new holland 339 harvester but its now seen better days

Have 3 850’s, all great when running but we seem to have trouble with pick up tell chains if it’s really heavy grass. Runs just right on a 2850 which has a bit of grunt, wet grass you could do with more tho. Ours can take first cut from a big twin rotor rake but occasionally misses bits. As long as you keep them well greased and sharp they are bombproof.

Used a jf 850 years ago . They ok but 25 acres is good going in a day . Hated taking it all apart just to move to next field . I used a claas 51 up til few years ago and found it alot easier and could side fill as it had a far bigger spout and it would blow a jf out of a field .similar output to the jf 850 .the claas 51 only has 3 or 4 chains and is shaft driven rollors .far better reverse on the class 51 . Its a gearbox forward netural and reverse wher the jf is a rubber wheel.
Have u ever used the claas 52

Never used the 51at all. It was bought new and left in the back of a shed where it has sat for the last 20 years. I've only have 50acres to cut. Don't have the help to side fill. Have the ground I have to cut is next to a silo so ifi had the jf I could tip the trailer myself. No need to hitch off

With 50 acres next to the pit, and lack of labour, dare I say it - perhaps I should whisper it quietly, but it’s a scenario that sounds pretty much ideal for a grassbox.

U wil have to disconect the harvestor take off drive shaft and power leads to bring a trailor load of grass in and find a good level spot in the field to park your harvester or it would run away on ya. It might be a wagon u need . It would be better one man outfit
