Joe Biden

Your man Johnson is desperate for some kind of trade deal but biden is no fan of Britain.

Roger, the USA already trades fairly freely with the UK and is the largest investor in this country by miles. What exactly will a trade deal offer either party that we don't already have?

Do you honestly believe your beef or dairy products are going to get far on our shop shelf?

Your cars, which they have tried to sell in the UK for decades but they still remain a rare sight even where the did meet EU regulations.

Then why is Johnsons' admin banging on about wanting it...?
Didn't it start with obama saying if you left the EU he would put you to the back of the line, since biden has hired back many of obamas staff its' a fair bet it will status quo

I'm confused now. What exactly is Biden going to do? What did Trump or Obama do, exactly?

The UK already trades with the USA very extensively, despite there being no formal arrangement for doing so. A lot of US investment heads in this direction too. Are you saying this is going to end or be curtailed somehow?

it won't be long before Biden is pensioned off anyway, as it is I read in the paper that he can hardly answer questions in a press conference, when he know the questions before hand (and has his answers written out already on crib sheets), so, we will soon be dealing with the VP.

Not saying that, I believe it was more uniformity of tariffs.

Yes, it was kind of sad to watch.
A load of pre-arranged softball questions with the answers already written out for him.

cars going one way 2.5%............going the other way 18%

I will say this to the American cars you are hoping to sell here- good luck. The reason they are rare here isn't because of any tariff on them. It's because they are carp. You couldn't pay me 2.5% of the sticker price of the average American built car you see in the UK. Cars like the PT Cruiser and the like are rare and for good reason. Some of them are downright thirsty or have hideous interiors.

It is true you have some excellent cars in the USA, but the ones that make up the bulk of your domestic market won't ever sell here because they are either too large or too thirsty to run given the high price of road fuels in the UK or Europe.

Do USA make any decent cars? Genuine question but never had any American hire cars in my many trips that I thought “ooh, this is nice”.
My American relatives drive Japanese. Most yanks don`t like their own cars and most US manufactured consumer machines rank alongside Chinese crap. Many US companies farmed out manufacturing to Mexico initially and when this failed they joined the ever increasing drift towards Chinese badge engineering to provide the consumer market. The public get what they demand but also what they deserve.

Your last sentence is true to a degree.

I like the idea that somehow tariffs for consumers are a good thing. So the government is arbitrarily forcing you to pay extra for a car you have chosen to buy? Great.

From memory it was loaded in your manufacturers favor, hence why I can buy say. a new defender 25-30% cheaper in the USA than UK.

I'm glad you can get 25% off a JLR product. You will probably need it... I don't understand why an American would buy these things at all given the excellent vehicles you have in the same segment, built domestically and I bet they are cheaper into the bargain.

Most here buy an SUV or a pickup, cars not so much, Tesla I suppose you buy..?

I read that in the paper yesterday, the incoming administration "lives off" the ground work undertaken by the previous one. Look at Tony Blair and the economy, basically all his first administration rode on the back on John Majors economic policy, it was not until his second term or Gordon Brown that the results of his policies started to be felt.

I have read in the paper that California (Democrat run) has become really business unfriendly, and companies and people are leaving the state, so I guess a microcosm of what will happen to the USA under Biden.
If the above theory holds true D Trump just completed Obamas mission.
