We had a 2014 6170R here (6155M replaces it) and still have a 7200r. The 6170 was an absolute money pit. Constantly throwing codes and breaking down, constant regeneration problems, every time something small broke it was a visit from the mechanic at $150/hr and $4/mile travel time. It was always derating itself. The mechanic said all the r series he worked on that were around livestock all had the same story.

The 6170r was an awesome tractor to run. Only tractor I’ve ever driven with front suspension, but seems ill suited for our conditions.

I’ll take the beat to sh!t 7430 we currently have with 14k hours any day. It gets the job done
So the 6155rs only have cab not axle suspension? That would be unusual here as nearly all JD's would be sold with TLS but quite a few would be sold with out cab suspension, though that number is probably getting less.

I don’t know what is available on M vs R. Our 6170R had axle suspension but not cab. 6155M has cab but not axle. I didn’t order them unfortunately.

Fair enough if you just think it's a heap. However if every single one was, no chance everyone other then dairies would be putting up with them.
I am surrounded by a fair few tractor snobs, alot of dairyfarms with fully loaded tractors. As do I, only thing is that I can not enter the club as I bought my tractors 15 years late to be truly flash.

In the last couple of years we’ve done 1500 hours a year on the ts90, after we took on more land. It used to do stuff all. Have a smaller ford 5640 (I think) that does a tiny bit, maybe 200 hours a year. So the newer tractor will be used and probably traded nearer the 5000 hour mark. ( cowshit loves anything, and will eat it). Given this, tractors will be traded every 3-5 years dependant on workload and how many hours we are willing of doing. Anyone know if John Deere still have low finance Going? They had 0% interest a while back don’t know what it is now.

I never get that argument either or the other way of why arable farmers need every gadget and toy on there tractor cos they ‘live’ on there tractor when I bet there’s a heck of a lot of stock tractors do more hours than arable ones.
Possibly because although the arable tractors do less hrs than many stock tractors, its a much higher proportion of the operators working time, thus giving the impression that they live in the cab.
