Refurbing above after standing in hedge 12yrs. made a start on engine with an in chassis rebuild now is time to sort out the wiring, but I cannot find cheap source to obtain wiring diagram has anyone any ideas as to where I can obtain one, or download one.

Solution
All I seem to remember of the early JD`s were the crankshafts were very prone to fracture ( get it tested before you build engine up ) and the metal hydraulic pipes used to leak / break.

Whatever you do don’t put the original fuse holder back on as it was a poor design. Nothing worse than driving down the road whilst rolling the fuses to get better contact for lights. If you go to jd parts online it gives you wiring layout for 2130.

Those round fuses are a crime against humanity, forever giving trouble on my old Laverda.

Hi All. Thanks for feed back have obtained wiring diagram from J D agent, sorted out most things although wiring a right mess to much wiring done in the field over the years. Trying to understand why it needs such an expensive hazard/ flasher unit and hazard switch to do 8x21w bulbs when I don't need to tow two trailers, and the one I will pull has led lights so no real power consumption. looking for ways to use smaller units or possibly two 1 for indicators and1 for the hazards. any help. Agree about the steel hydraulic pipes - I have become quite good at removing them and brazing up cracks and pinholes...

Main problem is losing several gallons of oil before you realise there is a leak - generally the first sign is sluggish power steering.

I dispensed with the two batteries in the battery box, in favour of a carrier on the side of the engine close to the starter with one standard battery. Easy access and short battery leads.

Hi All thanks for the tips about fuse box, was going to replace with original after old one fell apart in my hands, noe have gone to more modern spade type. I cannot believe J D totally over engineered all the wires under dash, then changed all the wire colour codes when factory fitting the Duncan Cab, without paying out for the J D wiring diagrams 10 pages in all I would have been in all kinds of trouble. I am keeping the cab on and refurbing later. The Quickie 200 loader is off completly and will be for sale including all bits etc

Hello, looking to do exactly the same on a 2130 similar vintage. Not decided on a location for the single 12v battery at present but I can't get the engine to crank. I can hear the solenoid clunking but there's nothing going through to the starter motor. Assuming the batteries got enough beans, can I connect the battery positive direct to the post on the starter motor, earth as normal and fire it up that way?

Now Then..
The positive lead should already be connected to the positive terminal on the starter. (Top one on the solenoid). Perhaps you have a faulty solenoid?? Are you sure your batteries are in good order and that the ends of the earth leads are clean??

Would anyone be interested in a 2030 for parts? I bought it from a neighbour to do up but it had been left in a field for 3 years with the exhaust uncovered so the engine is full of water. Drop me a PM for more details.

Thx Pal
Solenoid was working OK before I started this little project so will assume for the moment it’s not at fault.
The positive lead is connected as you say and tomorrow I’ll brighten up the earth lead connection.
Battery is on charge overnight so fingers crossed for tomorrow morning 👍🏻

edit - should’ve addedd all I’m getting is a ‘clunk’ when I try to turn the engine over.

Those starters can be temperamental on solenoid, sometimes a sharp tap on housing is enough, or a screwdriver across the terminals if not. Completely agree on earth strap comments, sometimes the battery box is so rotten the strap is attached to nothing but air, let alone badly earthed. Stick with twin batteries in steps, won't get enough cca with just one.
