John Deere 2140 battery conversion

Have a JD 2140 that does a few odd jobs around the Farm....it has 2 batteries one either side of the cab....has anyone made a conversion so you can run it off one larger battery as it’s too expensive buying two...cheers

I don't mean to sound smart but it's very simple. If it's got a SG2 cab, mount the battery on top of the RH battery box/step and clamp it down and use 2 new cables to the starter. If it's got a Sekura cab, bolt a battery tray to the chassis beside the starter and 2 new cables to it. Job done. 663 battery will suffice.Don't know why JD felt the need to use 2 smaller batteries anyway!

I am not aware of the battery box layout on the smaller tractors, but the larger 4040 and up used the small batteries but there was a block in the bottom of the box which could be removed and a 644 would happily sit inside.
it was actuallycheaper to purchase than the smaller standard battery.
the American built tractors were designed for 24 volt systems and very harsh winter climates requiring plenty of capacity.
For normal conditions , in the UK I am certain a single 644 would be sufficient if it will fit.

We run our 2130 OPU cab (with battery between the step) of one battery. we use a class combine battery with both terminals at the same end.. never had any problems and it is mainly used in winter time as it has a headgcutter permanently mounted.
