Hi,

Ive just taken delivery of a 1981 3040 series John Deere. (think it has the OPU cab)

I am new to these tractors, can anyone point me towards the selector controls fo the 4wd / 2wd please.

The cab is in a pretty bad way inside, my saturday will be sorting this out...

Now Then..
An OPU cab is the square shape with 2 doors, SG2 has the rounded front and a single door..
Are you sure it has MFWD??
See below for the switch position..

Thanks for all the help.

the switch on the right seems to of fixed it. Just need to workout what the rest does now.

We have electrical gremlins... no rev counter etc.

I have located a plate in the cab which indicates it has a SEKURA cab CS 0163

you can guess what my weekend will be spent doing

thanks, I guess I will be back for more.

well I think I have found the issue with the 4WD does any one know which pins need to have power. I have power at the switch as the light comes on, on the cluster, but can only get 0.2 volts out, and 1 solitary broken wire close to the sensor that doesn't look standard, the wire pictured goes to earth.

Any advice before I surf the manual.

Thanks

Power one c shaped pin, ground the other.
It requires 12v to disconnect MFWD,,,, it's a failsafe in case of electrical failure.. Look for a green/yellow wire,,,,,, I think..

True, we had two 4040's with hfwd, great until going downhill or when a pipe bursts, 8gallon of oil in the blink of an eye on the floor
Funny enough there's a video popped up on my Facebook page with someone who has expanded on the front axle assist idea
