As with almost every 6030 4 cyl I have a terrible kick on reverser on 6230 Standard.
I do gearbox calibration and it is still kicking.
Wth is wrong with those softwares on 6030 series ? I have installed latest gearbox payload and same problem.

Can someone explain in plain english what do fill pressure and fill time do ?
When it kicks I lower the pressure and increase fill time with little or no difference.

Now I get error on reverse calibration saying something about reverse brake emgaged on minimum pressure or soemthing like that. Front drive goes ok.

@Timbo or other JD specialists please help ?

tagging along, 6430 AQ has terrible kick too, but only with mower work when turning, so i geuss high rpm is problematic, with normal loader work no problems.

Use addresses epc40 to 43.

Reverse fill pressure is kpa and 41 this pressure can be increased in 25kpa increments, reverse fill time is 43 and set to 110 for a start. Note if the fill time is incorrect there can be a banging shudder created.

Then adjust 41 up and down slow and test as you go. Fine tuning has more to do with your experience as a tech than just being able to slap in a figure and it works. Usually the lower the fill pressure the more roll away in-between forward/rev shuttling you will get.

Suggest replace the enable proportioning valve on the trans and recal using 38. Then fine tune if it's still horrible.

What about filling time ? How does it change behaviour of the reverser ?
Or it should be left untouched after gearbox calibration ?

Reading of above: Why is JD so popular? performance, or discounts
They are green. Green is allegedly good for the planet and saves animals from extinction and seas from rising and coral from bleaching. Riding a bucking [or is that a *ucking?] Deere gives the driver a nice warm fuzzy feeling inside and the owner a constant reason to practice their BACS skills.

Good experience with 6110 jd as loader tractor spent 8000 hours doing mainly loader work feeding cows (now on over 12.000h with only waterpump replaced as repairs), after that 6430 was good follow up and with 7000 hours on it now from brand new, front axle and loader are still good no repairs yet. For loader work clutch gives no issues its only with mowing when turning direction it does it, which isnt even that big of a deal to us because it rarely mowes 🤷‍♂️

Now Then..
How many hours has this tractor done and what sort of work?? What EPC and BCU versions do you have and how do you get them??
Have you checked the springs on the forward and reverse valves, I had one break once. Also, the clutch cooling valve springs can break and give similar problems.
How are you calibrating the transmission, performance monitor or with Service Advisor??

It has 7000 hours, it has frontloader so it did all easy jobs mostly. It seems that frontloader work makes these problems, I just got the tractor.
I have flashed latest BCU payload or whatever one is for gearbox.
Will check springs, I havent done that, thanks.
I am calibrating with Advisor.

Seriously????? 🤔
Yep, light was flashing for alternator and would let it into reverse with a slap. Replaced alternator and made no difference. Sent it to dealer and they said might be dash but weren't sure so took one out of a tractor in a different branch and swapped it. It worked so they put in a new one in ours. I don't know how they worked it out but it fixed it. Maybe they came across it before. If op knew of a similar tractor they could try it to see.

Similar issue here with a 6820 except it's the opposite - it has too much delay engaging reverse especially when warmed up on a buckrake. Just sits there slipping clutch for ages before it eventually starts going backwards. Hoping it's not the start of clutch problems. Is there a way of changing the speed of clutch engagement on these?
