Is it definately goosed some batteries I have thought are nackered work almost like new after a night with noco charger gets them right back up to full charge then they work very well again, often you don’t use machines enough to fully top them up I find

I would personnally buy the JD strongbox. They aren't bad value for the capacity compared to the rest.

Yeah I have charged it up with a smart charger but if I don’t use it for a week it’s dead. The only thing that can be drawing is a camera screen in the cab that always has a standby light on but will this use that much power?

It might be if it’s powering the camera even when in standby.

Can't you leave the smart charger attached if you're not going to be using it for a week, I'd a JCB 3CX which was losing half of one amp, never did find the culprit, although I suspect it was something in the alternator, doesn't sound a lot but it's 12 amp in every 24 hours, 84 amps in a week.

I just put disconnect switch on it, cheaper than a new alternator.

Another vote for Tayna batteries

They took an order over the phone half 4 Sunday night

Fella also recommended a different battery to the one I'd looked out: Bigger cold cranking amp, four year warranty, and cheaper!

Aye, very decent company to work with 👍

I wouldn't swallow the Deere batteries are best hype, especially when it's dead at 18 months. Tayna batteries were £125 plus the vat and delivery for a 629. Your Deere battery won't be 1200CCA, 180AH, and four year warranty for that money!

Tbh the tower getting fuller and ewes needing silage will mean it will be getting used a lot more often

There are two options of battery that will fit in that tractor, the normal type, with a terminal either end. Or you can fit a much higher capacity , longer battery, +/( ford shaped) with the two terminals on the one end. Think my statement applies back to the 6000 series with a 4 cyl engine

They won't make their own batteries so providing you make sure to check specs you will find an equivalent battery for a likely saving. Tbh a slightly less spec battery in good order at 2 year old will start you're tractor better than a knackered jd one.

Is your knackered battery a 110Ah one or the 154Ah? As john342 says, you should get a big one with both terminals at one end.

Tanya are brilliant to buy from, I would get this one...https://www.tayna.co.uk/truck-batteries/varta/m11/

Out of interest anyone ever claimed for a battery older than 12 months? I've heard of some longer warranties which in the small print only cover for 12 months if fitted to off road machinery due to "extra vibrations" not had personal experience of it myself.

Yes, a 642 battery from sparex suddenly failed at around 16 or 18 months i think. Sparex sent another one out no questions.

What do you use for a 2005 manitou 630-120lsu

On that model and age from factory would have been a 663 normally but there was an option of a weird square shaped battery with higher out put but they are expensive and hard to come by in UK so even if you had that i wouldnt fit one back on it.

You need a decent spec 663 so 750apms at least but most are 700. BUT i would fit either a 642 which is 1000amps and 120amp hour but the terminals are close to the battery flap/rad air duct (must have this flap fitted or engine overheats) a better battery that the 663 which is a direct fit is a 665 same size casing but 870amps and 120amp hours.

How ever if your having battery issuses and slow cranking then the problem will be your starter motor and non of the above batteries will cure that problem long term.

Let me know if you want a decent starter motor otherwise look up 665 battery on tayna website or similar, i would recomend this one. (a Varta 665 is only 810amps so you need to look at the amp spec between brands)

MAKE SURE its a 665 not a 655! 655 is taller and wont fit.

Iskra motor fitted about 18 months ago. Alternator packed up in the summer and now it's slow cranking so I'm thinking it knackered the battery. Hankook mf31-1000 on there with posts halfway across the battery. I'll see what's available before Christmas.🤞 Thanks

Sounds like a 642 type, these are good batteries BUT I find they dont last as long due to such a high capacity in a smaller casing, they dont like abuse of high current draw from crap starters or going flat from knackered alternators so if I was you I would order that 665 battery in my link.

And be aware there are direct look alike copies of the iskra mahle gear reduction starters that bepco is pushing and I think sparex sell some too. I only like to sell the genuine ones myself and avoid the copies but there are loads of adverts selling the copies and many people buy them believing they are genuine as it's not made clear in the sellers description.
