In the market for a new tractor, run all John Deere’s but they are starting to price themselves out of the market in my opinion. I know I’m comparing a 6 to a 4 cyl but it’s as close a match as I think suits. All opinions welcome !!!!

We run all deeres, never drove a fendt, but we had a145r on hire thought it was a very nice little tractor. Have you demo them both what do you like the best if so?

Do fendt not make the 716 anymore? It would be comparable. The deere is gettin to close to fendt in price which leaves the fendt more attractive. Id say go try 1 and see what u like. Personally i think for sum1 lookin a premium product thers nothin can come close to a fendt

Run 6175r 195 170 , all autopower and had a 150 auto quad , this tractor is also going to be vario and is going to replace a 6830 auto quad. 516 coming tomorrow on demo o a round Baler for a day so will try it and if we think it’s a runner we will look for another demo when we are busier at harvest.

It would be but I’m told they are a dead tractor, probably because of there weight v’s hp, haven’t got a fendt price yet but i think it will be the same if not a little cheaper and fendt also seem to offering very good warranty packages at the minute, have a fendt 516 coming tomorrow evening on demo so we will go from there

Laoisfarmer I went through that exercise in Jan 2019. 516 profiplus with weighcell loader, FL, Front PTO, guidance autosteere etc. Basically fully loaded tractor but ended up with JD6145 with all the same features but 6cyl. A few things I hated about Fendt swung it for me but they were minor points specific to me like having to remember to apply the handbrake, the position of the key to start the tractor and the pickup hitch. There was €10k in the diff but had no bearing on my decision. I bought the 145 in 19 and traded it again for another 145 in Jan this year and am very happy. I felt the 516 would struggle weight wise with a Fusion with 2 wet bales in it on hilly ground or pulling a 13 ton digger on steep hills. My experience of having had a 2018 4cyl MF 6615s dynaVt rated at 150hp before boost also pushed me twords 6cyl over 4. Someone on here said “there’s no replacement for displacement” and boy do I agree with that. You would also want to consider in Ireland the resale of the Fendt as the market is limited and if you change brand god forbid, the depreciation could be frightening as most people think rightly or wrongly of Vario replacement costs. Just my view and opinion but it’s based on experience.

Run both Fendt and JD here. TBH buy the one you prefer to drive.

Just watch the JD warranty a recent conversation about the JD ended with the dealer telling me I bought the wrong warranty. That was with a problem the tractor had from new. Not impressed.

I have gone from a 6 cylinder NH T6080 to a 4 cylinder Valtra N174. I absolutley love it and have no regrets it's an awsome tractor. I would buy the one you prefer as once they are both specked up there will only be a differnce of a few hundred quid a month in it if that.

I have a fendt 516 with loader it is the most awesome loader tractor i have ever driven, however it is a slightly lighter tractor which you have to remember and i am the owner and only driver which i think is the most important thing.

The reputation of the JD dealers in our part of the world has always been so good.
It has and I have always had good service. This may well be a one off, the tractor in question will be here for another 4000 hours or so, will have to see how it goes. As I have said many times on here I can buy 10 different colours of tractor within a 40min drive , I have lots of options.

Do Redlynch serve your neck of the woods on the Fendt side?

Of all the people I know with Fendts, I can't think of anyone who has gone away from them.
