Hi, swapping a tractor... maybe, Case puma 165 cvx option1 or jd 6155r DD.
I prefer the jd, I think but it’s a bit dearer

Many thanks in advance

Not really comparing like for like? Would you not be better to compare the case with a JD 6155R Autopowr?
Or Case new active 8 dual clutch transmission and the Deere DD?

Case even less money than the Deere then if that's the governing reason for the decision.

Personally I'd have the case cvx over a fixed ratio gearbox with as limited number of ratios as either of the DD or active 8 transmissions.

Activ8 isn’t available on the Puma yet. Oh @Orionn4444 beat me too it.

How many ratios does the DD have? Activ8 has 24, not sure about DD

Active 8 although 24 ratios, is effectively only a 17 speed because there's such a big overlap between ranges.

Deere DD also 24 ratio but similarly due to overlap in ratios is very limited to the number of different effective gears.

Both are smooth gearboxes for predominantly transport work.

If the tractor does a lot of PTO work where the engine speed needs fixed, I'd imagine the lack of actual different ratios could become annoying if you're used to a greater number of actual gear ratios than either of them provide. Depends if you're willing to accept the compromise, or used to say the 16 speed electro command 'box from CNH.

We have a JD 6155R DD and it’s very good. Our 6210 is AP and as we do very little pto work there is not a huge advantage, it is brilliant on the baler though.
The DD gearbox is very efficient and really gets the power on the ground. I would buy DD again.
The tractor hasn’t missed a beat either, really pleased with it.

If you're going vario I would wait for the revamp next year with the would wait for the joystick like on the 6230/6250R.
I really like the pumas but I still feel the fit and finish is not all that great in the cab.

The good thing about the case I believe it’s the smallest tractor in the range, meaning if you want more hp simple chip for less than £1k will get 25+ hp without any problems

Some say life is too short buy what you really fancy!!
That’s true, I didn’t plan to look at cvt.s, but this happened to available.
Fancy JD, Quality feel etc, but the. CVT Is a nice gear box. The puma does have somthing about it though.
I believe the power of each is similar tried them both.

Comfort wise the JD is the better option, Gearbox it's the Case, Price is obviously the Case.
Comes down to how good the dealers are and how good a warranty each is offering.
But if you say you prefer the JD, it looks like you've already made your mind up.
Not made my mind up, that’s why I’m on here.
