Add blue and fuel use on 6155
Has been good this autumn vast improvement on 6150.
And is better than puma 165 we had use of .especially the add blue usage.
JD should have gone with add blue sooner.
Ours isn't great on fuel but is chipped so at least it can actually get on with the job when needed

It's the kinda fixed speed jobs like fert etc that let it down compared to our 6930 it's not bad but the older yoke is easier on diesel

We have just gone from JD to a Case Puma CVX and zero regrets so far. It’s the first of 5 intotal that will be changed on this farm over the next 5 years purely down to price as like for like the new cvx was 15% cheaper than the JD. On 5 tractors that’s going to be around £80,000 saving to this business without accounting for the extra interest on that £80,000 extra.
We think the build quality of both is very similar. The JD cab is a nicer place though but not by much. On the road not a lot in it in terms of braking and lugging capability. The Case is using less fuel though so far by about 5l/hr. It doesn’t seem to use much adblue though having now done 600 hours so far. We couldn’t be happier really so far even though we’ve been JD for 30 years mainly.

Did you buy long or short wheel base case? In a similar situation with Fendt and new holland. Much as I hate to admit it. The new holland is looking much better value, even when you take residuals into account

I suspect CASE will be replacing the Puma range very shortly with something similar in appearance to the Optum and Maxxums…………….Maybe at Lamma or Sima Paris show in February 2019. This of course means that CASE dealers pencils will become razor sharp on the current Puma models in the months ahead...………...could be a bargain or two on offer.

Swapped a Fendt for a CVX and so far so good. The CVX uses the same amount of diesel per hour but about 50% less adblue. The CVX is no where near as smooth but a part of that would tyres rather than gearbox. Very similar tractors in many respects but the CVX was £21,000 cheaper with more spec.

Didn’t even bother looking at JD because loose verbal prices matched Fendt. NH obviously very similar to the Case. JCB the best though to drive.

Someone will be along shortly to tell you that you're wrong and the Fendt was actually cheaper! I like my blue CVX, even if it is lots of pieces at the moment. The box is very intuitive, very simple to set up and much smoother than gears. 20k cheaper than a smaller Fendt as well.

When buying tractors there seem to be many variables when it comes to price. How the dealership buy the tractors can have a big sway (whatever the brand) on how competitive the price is.
Where many seem to go wrong when pricing to change is not comparing apples with apples on things like raw horse power rather than boost plus specification.
When I bought my Puma 165 CVX it came with everything apart from front pto and the Fendt was the same but came in at considerably more money. I thought the Fendt was a fantastic tractor and very well thought out and the build quality in my opinion was better than the Case IH but not enough to warrant it being 30 plus thousand more at the time of ordering so I took a punt and bought the Case IH Puma 165 CVX. Touch a large piece of wood I have had it about 26 months with 2250 hours of trouble free operation. 1 SCR sensor at about 300 hours and that’s been it apart from the odd soft wear update. Comfy, great engine which hangs on when you need it to, gearbox is simple and user friendly and the screen is simple to understand and use. Complaints like most machinery is the paint could do with being better.
Would I have another. Absolutely and will Neva 175 CVX. Hope this helps but basically buy what you like and can afford.

Will they keep the powershift box ?

Well the penny has finally dropped with the local JD dealer as the second puma has arrived. The MD and salesman called in today generally concerned why after 30 years the farm has now purchased 2 none JD tractors within 6 months of each other. No fall outs but when there’s a £20,000 price difference for same hp and specification it cannot be ignored. They crunched numbers and couldn’t get anywhere near matching so left knowing the 3 JD’s left will be replaced with different colours over the next 2-3 years. They also admitted they are not shifting the numbers of new and used they budgeted for.

R u not sacrificing quality, fine design and resaleability for a lower priced lesser quality product? Just my opinion having had New Holland’s for years and having gone to Jd? Either way good luck with your purchase.

You can’t speak too surely until it comes to selling them at the end of their time with you?

Of course you will get a cheaper price to change going to a cheaper brand, but I suspect when you come to swap in the Cases you’ll be back to square 1 again.

Is there anyone who has a recent price on a Puma 175 CVX in Britain, thought it might be fun to compare with Swedish prices? I bought myself a top spec Puma 175 with front links, front pto, electric mirrors, top seat, engine breaks, AFS 700 Pro monitor, 4 rear spools, 2 front spools, front axle / cab suspension, RTK guidance 600 65 28 front wheels, 650 75 38 back wheels Trelleborg TM 900.

I got the Puma for 100 000 GBP with current exchange rates. I also priced a Fendt 720, which for my use (when only needing 200+ hp with the triple mowers) was the closest model. The 720 was 25 000 GPB more expensive, and was also on worse tyres than the Puma.

Just about to start the process of pricing my 165cvx for a full spec 175cvx and I will also compare the 185cbx as on paper they are the same power but the 185 is slightly larger and heavier. Just had it in demo and was most impressed. Pricing a 720 as close as I can get spec for spec but I’m expecting it to be north of 25k more. Time will tell.

If the Puma is £20k cheaper than the JD at part ex time @mountfarm will be no worse off but will also have had £20k less tied up in a lump of shiny metal.

Looking at used 5-10 year old tractors the premium for JD over Case isn’t that much!

Now I’m going to find my tin hat cos someone will come along and give a lengthy explanation why I’m wrong and that spending more makes you better off!

Case dealer must be looking after you, when i priced NH against JD there wasn't much in it. JD looked better value for money.

Ended up buying ex demo NH.

I had the Puma 240 for demo last autumn, but I appreciate that the 175 is a bit smaller. But when it comes to weight the 175 is more than heavy enough, I ran mine over the weighbridge last week and it was 8450 kg. That seems to be 500 kg more than a Fendt 720 from what I have read on the forum. And 8450 kg is 1500 kg more than the leaflet says. I didn't price a 185 for real, but the delar told it would be somewhere around 6000 BGP more expensive.
