John Deere 635 moco

I am beginning to contemplate a replacement moco to my McHale, it is only 2018 and has done nothing but it makes me wince every time I lift it up and the tractor leans to the right. I have seen a few of these 630 635 and 530 moco’s about here for sale of the mid 20teen vintage. We only do probably 80-100 ha a year so age isn’t too scary but I was wondering if there was anything to be concerned about with them or their Kuhn cousins.

Had a look round a 530 earlier in year. Neighbour bought it as a favour for someone else. A heavy well built mower.

You probably would be hard pressed to pass Kuhn in your instance however.

Just depends what is around, I guess they are still the same mower under the skin? Agro service 2000 stock Kuhn bits which makes ownership easy if not cheap.

Buy the jd 1365. Best trailed mower out there
They don't follow the ground well, they don't leave an even sward, they can't spread full width, the standard wheels are far too small, they don't lift high enough, they don't follow you properly so you're forever tweaking the transport ram, they're wide on the road and for many years they had a weak swivel hitch and they denied there was a problem. I'd say JDs 1365 is the worst trailed mower I've used.

Another 1365 fan here. Got a 2003 and it's been bomb proof. cuts well, follows well and solidly built. Keep them serviced and they will look after you fine. I find it copes with uneven sloped ground no trouble. A bit wide on the road, but you'd get used to it.

Just a shame you want a centre pull as I think a 1365 would be a good mower for you.

After 30 years going round and round I felt it might be time for a change seeing as things have moved on. However I hear what most are saying and am open minded. I will see what Agriaffaires has to offer.

I have a 1360 and a 1365. Whilst I really rate them what let's them down is just how sodding wide they are. This becomes so apparent when I want to head out the village on a Sunday lunchtime to start mowing. I head up through the village and with all the walkers and daytime tourists parked here there and everywhere trying to get the back mower through is a pain sometimes. It's then I wish I had a mounted mower which would have folded up out the way!

With a centre pivot I guess you could almost 'walk' the mower through tight spaces, tweaking the hydraulics to steer it around cars etc.

I can definitely see why you fancy having a centre pull.

Unless I ever got considerably bigger tractors I wouldn't really look at mounted mowers.

I think they have stopped making the 1365 now. It's not on the John Deere website and it was back in the summer.

Alot of wheels weights one side might be an option. But mounted mowers in the long run are hard on the linkage.

I know trailed are dearer to buy. But unless I was ever buying a front mower on a decent sized tractor I would go for trailed.
