John Deere 6630 hunting at idle

Tractor started hunting at idle at the end of last winter. I changed the fuel filters incase they were drawing air and it made little / no difference.

The problem disappeared all summer and now it's started again.

Any idea what the problem might be please....

Now Then..
As mentioned, It's probably the suction control valve.
There is a chance that you could remove & clean it. Make sure all your fuel hoses are in good order too..

Hole in one of Deere's legendarily cr@p rubber fuel lines? Got the one on the suction side of the lift pump to change on my 6230 now which is causing her to suck air at idle and sound like a bag of bolts until she warms up.

I got a genuine denso scv of eBay years ago for the 79 usually I find genuine JD parts pretty good value but they are taking the pi55 on those scv's

For anyone interested there's a yard full of walking floor trailers (X Bord Na Mona) advertised on Donedeal.ie coming up for auction.

Check you've got the right o-ring on the glass bowl on the bottom of the filter, it sometimes sticks to the filter and gets thrown away. It is bigger than the one that comes in the little plastic drain bung.
Check for a bad contact on the rail pressure sensor as well. It's on the under side of the rail, give it a wiggle with the engine running and see if it changes note.
Any codes? (1347.07 fuel pressure mismatch) favourite one for suction control valve but can just mean a restricted fuel supply.
1659.31 (engine power de-rate) caused by the 1347.07
There is a gauze on the end of the suction pipe In the fuel tank also.

@Rusty#1 , can you elaborate that part with JD and Ebay price ? Is that thingy also on 6030P series injector pump responsible for idle ? I think I have changed that one time since my mechanic had it for spare and he told me it usually costs insanely for that small part. Can you point me to Ebay link where I should buy it if I would need it in the future ?

Thanks

I'm not sure on the current extortionate jd price but here's the link for one that suits a 30series (marked 360 on the scv iirc)

@Rusty#1 can you please check if this one should be good for 6930P year 2012 ?

https://e-katalog.intercars.com.pl/#/produkty/3319343117181-DCRS300260-elementy-pompy-cr.html

I have a problem on mine and I need to replace it and I cant wait for that Ebay to arrive. It costs 90 GBP here in this company but they have this number, not that Denso 294200-0360. Or it must be that part number ?

I'm not sure, looks the same, my 75/79 are marked 360 on the original scv's, hence why I ordered the 360 one, I'm not sure what the differences are

Thanks, I will try this one and see if it works. If not I will search for 360. When I search for JD number it gives me also DCRS300260.

Now JD sells some longer version but the price is insane.

Reviving old thread.
My 6920s is doing similar for the past few weeks. It’s not bad, just sounds like it’s going to cut out for a split second and then jumps back to life. Only does it on idle and only happens once every 2-5 mins or so at idle.
It never stalls, just drops rpm for a split second.

loads of power still and fine higher rpm.
Does this Denso suction valve work on the 20 series also?
Might just replace it as it’s a cheap part.
Any other possible causes of this issue?

Different part number on a 20 series to a 30, you’ll need the number off the pump or the valve then just give your local Denso agent a call it’s a LOT cheaper than dealers price! Think you can get them on eBay as well.
First check your fuel lines aren’t perished and the filter bowl has its O ring on as air ingress can cause the same symptoms.
