How does your client know what brand of wrap he is getting? Are u buying cheap Eastern European wrap and charging as though it’s a well known brand. If the client ever had an issue with badly conserved bales what would u do. I always leave core and box and any plastic packaging tide in the field so they can see what they are paying for and as is sometimes the case they want 6 layers then the extra boxes are there to prove it went on. Just how I do it and I certainly am no litter lout!

Never had a problem in 30 seasons as run a professional service that customers have always trusted in. It was just away to stop drivers leaving rubbish in customers fields .

If wind gets up cardboard and plastic can get blown into hedges rows which isn't good,,

Just been servicing our 678 today ready for later this week hopefully. Does anybody know where I can get these long R clips from that hold the wrap on without paying a fortune?

Also anybody else had issues like this with the chains and what brand of chain do deere use? I'm pretty sure the previous owner said he replaced this main chain not too long ago and paid an exorbitant amount for it. Think I'll buy a cheap length of new in for spare. Fortunately spotted and rejoined it before it snapped completely.

Standard clips too thick for the length?

Diamond chain is very good chain, whatever you buy make sure it’s up to it, there is a lot sold as baler chain that simply won’t put up with the strain.

Do not buy chain from John Deere, in fact don't even use their chain if they pay you to. As @Wellytrack says Diamond chain is very good.

Cheers guys. We have koyo chain on the other baler which seems very good value. 5000 bales of stick later and it's hardly stretched much. I'll have to price up some diamond chain

What sort numbers of bales can you achieve in an hour in most crops ?

30-40 per hour would have been average going behind a twin rotor rake but heavy crops could make the going very slow.

I baled 200 in 4 hours one day with one and that was about the best I got out of one in some good rows.
Like u say if you could do 400 in a day with one then it was a bloody good day.
