This cold weather has proved the need for a new battery on our John Deere
Its a 2004 common rail 6920S
The old battery doesn't seem to have anything wrote on it, so whats everyones recommendations for model number and make etc?
Cheers

Go for the biggest CCC (cold cranking output) output for the case size and the longest warranty you can afford.
Ampere hour output also worth considering
Remember with like for like battery output, you are paying extra for the warranty nothing more

We need a new one for our 6430 been quoted £150.:oops:

If this is the John Deere battery and it's the 154Ah then it is cheap. Don't get the lower amp one the 154Ah lasts longer and will start your tractor on a very cold morning.

When I bought my 6420 in 2004 I specified the larger battery and it is still working today. Yesterday I changed the battery on my IH 475, the old one was a Varta 648 and was bought in 2005 (I wrote the date on the side of the battery) and yes, the new one is a Varta.

Try changing the oil for a fully synthetic, tractor starts instantly these cold mornings like mid summer, even without giving the heater time. Must prolong the battery life, and save fuel.
