John Deere 7310R

Just had a 7R 350 on hire for 3 weeks, 21 plate and was brand new. Lots of positives like the cab especially, very nice to drive. Two major issues we found with it, there is no toolbox anywhere we could find on it which is ridiculous. I know many will use a front weight with a toolbox in it but if you don't have that you have tools and spares rolling round the cab with you which is far from ideal given the money you would spend on buying the tractor and how nice the cab is. The other issue is the fuel tank is way to small (100l less than the equivalent Fendt) Start work at 8am on something like a plough or press or cultivator drill and you will need to fill up at around 5/6 o clock in the evening which logistically is a right pain! How Deere have managed to get that wrong I don't know! We had thought about upgrading one of our 6250Rs to a 7R but we're not so sure now.

Any experiences of these 7 series tractors? I know they were pretty bad about 6/7 years ago?
We had a 14 plate 7310 and it was a lovely tractor but very unreliable ,we swapped it in last backend for a new one and it’s been fine so far (800hrs ) . I wouldn’t own one without power guard but I think most tractors/cars /trucks are like that nowadays .

I had a 14 plate 7290r for 18 months and it was a complete dog, nice to drive but plagued with problems, mainly gearbox related.
had a 7350r for a few days on demo, nice tractor but used more fuel per hour than 936 fendt, wasnt as nimble on the headlands either, the steps are very narrow and steep, not as comfortable as a fendt and noisier in the cab.
Id look at a NH T7315HD before a 7310 tbh

How do JD keep selling these unrelieable tractors. We briefly passed an eye over a 14 plate 7260r with 4300hr for £60kish and are spanner man said budget for £10k/£15k in repairs at least, (engine and gearbox) the main suspects.

Early 7280R’s we’re extremely unreliable. The first one here needed a new gearbox at 450 hours. The second one at 500 hours. That and along with prices is why we moved to the CNH stable. No JD’s here now at all and I honestly can’t see us ever having another as they are to expensive to buy knew and worth far less than the dealers think when used.

I have a 2017 7310r. 3000 odd hours and it’s not been too bad. One or two things covered by warranty. You won’t get a more comfortable or user friendly Tractor to drive. I tried a nh t7315 before buying it and it’s not half the tractor the jd is.
