Anyone have one? Is the auto power nice to use? Have they been reliable? Has anyone got to compare one to a 765 challenger?

A friend had two and both have had major gearbox issues. He did a deal with JD to get out of the last one and into a wheeled tractor because JD weren’t willing to stand by warranty any longer as he’d taken a 7500hr one out when buying it. The wheeled tractor hasn’t caused any problems so far.

Yes I heard about a problem with gearboxes but I thought once they were fixed they were OK and John deere were doing a replacement fix if failed? Other than that did he like it to drive?

Yes they liked them a lot but at the end of the day out of warranty the ownership costs would of been out of hand by many thousands.

The first one went for repair but went down again within months so that was swapped for another one that then had continual issues to the point JD took it out. I would have to check but I think they were both around 2000 hrs when the issues started to arise. He paid for his use of them but JD did sort him out well.

Can you explain how if he had a 7500 warranty did jd get out of warranty? Had it done over 7500? Did he break the terms and conditions of said warranty?

When he bought it he took out the 7500 hr 5 yr warranty but after 2000hrs a lot of problems started occurring including the gearbox issues. After numerous repairs it was so bad that JD said to him let’s swap it on favourable terms so they agreed on a fair use amount of money and got him into a new wheeled machine as a replacement. I forget the exact monies but my friend was happy enough.

So they didn’t actually not warrant it like you said then?

I did not say that as you have suggested. I said JD did not want to stand by, as in not keep repairing a dead duck as it was costing them money and my friend loads of downtime. There was no fall outs and my friend is still thoroughly a JD man. If anything it strengthened his relationship with them as he was looked after well.

I have two 8345rt with 9000 hours each, they replaced a Challenger 765b. The JDs are in a different world to drive compared to the Cat. The autopower is superb, the cab, noise, command arm and screen are light years ahead, having said all that the autopower has packed up on one of them this week! !

My mistake but it read like JD wouldn’t stand to original warranty! Thank you for putting it right!

I drive a 8370rt changed from a 765c they are like chalk and cheese. I know where I would rather spend the day. It's also been very reliable compared to the challenger.
