John Deere experts wanted - parking spring exchange without removing gearbox ?

Hi,

I have a broken park position outer spring L80167 on 6230 Premium and there is no room to change it from under the tractor, chassis is too close. So tractor cannot engage in parking position.

My mechanic tells me that he can remove some parts under the gearbox and try to exchange that spring but if it cannot go enough on the side because of chassis to remove and replace the spring then the whole damn gearbox must go down just for that spring.

Has someone done it and how ?

Thanks

:arghh: what is easier and faster option ? I need to replace only that damn spring.
Fastest will be removing the chassis, this is not a job for the faint of hart though and you’ll need a special tool to remove the two pins that go through rear axle.

To give you an idea of the task this is a 7530, which is actually easier to do as the chassis bolts on at the rear rather than the two pins.

It’s also an auto power but park lock is still a t#*+ to get to!

You mean to change complete rod and all those parts there ? I dont really want to do all that since the tractor is on his way out :)

Hi all, just looking for some information on the parking issue as my 7430 stopped putting it into park, today I have removed the chassis rail to get to the side of the gearbox as pictured earlier in the forum, I found that the roll pin had broken that holds the leaver to the shaft that runs into the gearbox, is this a common fault or will there be more gone wrong inside the gearbox that’s caused it to break? You can turn the shaft into the gearbox 90 degrees is an anti clockwise direction so the roll pin would go from horizontal to vertical but unable to shift it going clockwise, if you push the prawl through the hole it will push forwards but only a few millimetres
Just wondering if all this sounds normal Just before I drop the bottom off the gearbox to double check, didn’t see any filings in the oil when it was dropped
Thanks in advance
