John Deere Pivoting Mudgaurds

Has anyone got any ideas for fixing the Pivoting Mudgaurds on a John Deere 6920? They have a lot of play in them and constantly coming undone. Currently building the pin up with weld and taking it down but the bad design of it makes that hard to do properly. Don’t want to buy new ones as they’re £450 for the pair. Any ideas appreciated.

Weld em up solid. Its the only way. They are truly a pee poor design

Nick young does replacements that are ok but I'm unsure of how long they're gonna last . My 6930 has 7500 hrs on the original pivots and one is slack the other is still tight

Could fit new ones, having drilled & tapped the casting for a grease nipple that puts grease in somewhere useful unlike the original design,

I think that’s the final resort as it’s on 600/65 30 so don’t want to loose any more lock if I can help it

Had a look and they’re £450 for a pair which seems a bit steep. Currently at 8300 hrs with originals but they’ve been bad for at least the last 3000 hours and finally had enough of them.

We got a pair for a used tractor we bought that was meant to be fixed before it came but the dealer never bothered so got them as they're a lot cheaper than JD ones .

It had one bad and one good so put the new pair on it and I'll use the good one to fix my 69 at some point .

Mine is an 11 plate I think they were possibly better by then they have 2 grease nipples on I've never over greased them so I'm actually surprised they have got to the hrs they have going by what i heard

Just remove them seems to be the common theme for front guards around here nothing worse than a good tractor coverd in sh!t
