John Deere reducing dealerships

and yet in the east of Scotland you can still get parts readily from the same dealers that used to sell them for those machines with support from mechanics that served their time on porus blocks. Great firms.

Don't think they feel completely safe either. Speaking to salesman who is retiring age and he said he was pleased he was finishing. He wouldn't be surprised if same happened to them.

Thats the case down here, tell a fitter the symptoms of any blue tractor and he knows what the fault is, you lose all that with a change of brand.

So why deere losing out?
First time, I found a ex demo new Holland in Newark. It was a lot cheaper than quotes for new tractors from local dealers and was spec I wanted. Would have bought a JD if it hadn't come up. Last time, just went new Holland because happy with current tractors reliability, local dealer and fine to have them all the same brand. Don't have any JDs at moment.

Earnvale is hrn ain't it?

Case left Phillip's for a reason, dont think they would go back
I would guess case regret that move really. Left them with less coverage in areas and arguably an even worse dealer in Balgownie. On the other hand Garrick seems to be doing a good job for them so not all bad either.

Balgownie are useless and bloody dear

Got to agree with you there, left the branch managers office a few years ago after issues with MF repair and vowed I'd never deal with them again.

So far I've managed that. It's a shame as there handy at thainstone. Problems management in my opinion. Nothing wrong with there staff.

As Dave said they seem to do well with diggers and plant. I get the impression they don't like dealing with farmers.

“Don’t like dealing with farmers” what like Phillips? I find them better than Phillips. I think your right though the plant is their focus although lately they have been making a killing on garden stuff with everything be closed.
The reality is many of these dealerships don’t give a good service no matter what colour of tractor you have.

There’s a noticeable drop in NH tractors around here since the local depot closed about 12 miles away. Now you have to go 45 miles north or 40 miles south. I went north to look at a new one last year and decided no before I got there purely due to the distance.
Hardly any claas tractors around either for a similar reason. We haven’t got a local Jcb dealer either really. Case, Agco, JD and Merlo are all within 10 miles so they get the business.

I don’t mind travelling biggerdistances for parts for short term used machines like a combine as it’s 4 weeks a year. But stuff that’s used all year round needs to be local for me especially where we are when traffic levels are high and it takes longer to get anywhere.
