John Deere reducing dealerships

Steady on there Linford Christie. A bit more meat on the bone, 2015 Puma 230cvx, brand new tyres all round, 3800 hours to be precise, front linkage, front pto, 6 spools, fully integrated RTK steering, air brakes, etc It’s a full spec tractor that was on a extended warranty. It’s immaculate. I’d need to check but brand new I think it was £92,000. The used tractor dealer said trade price should of been around £60,000 if described correctly which it was. The same Puma cvx today a 240 with identical spec is £119,000 plus the cost of the RTK system as we enquired since the JD guy was here. We won’t be changing it though so that’s that.

So specced like for like £21k difference in price between JD and case? Less rtk system? From what I’ve gathered I’m surprised it’s not more.

No because a JD 6215r is only 215hp with a 40 boost, where as the Puma price was for 240hp with a 30hp boost. The JD equivalent is the 6230/6250r with cvt gearbox. No idea what they cost though.

very good, always found cnh were in the main very reliable just niggly little things spoilt them.

I can tell you now that that deere and Co have not stumped up one penny for cfm the only thing they had were the signs.

Who told you that? I wouldn’t be sure of that.

More interesting will be who will sharmans go with... think they would keep a lot of there customers, deutz maybe no real dealer in the area.

Probably be other dealer casualties in the area sharmans are a big dealer for most other franchises. Hay ho as long as everyone still has a job that’s the main thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if its CNH,I'll be surprised if its Deutz, certainly going to ruffle some feathers in the area what ever happens.

A lot of comments about how Deere have built their sales success on the back of excellent backup so I did chuckle when a post came up on Facebook from local JD dealer listing their Christmas opening hours, close at lunchtime on the 24th and re open on the 2nd.
Just about all other dealers around have also posted their opening hours and the norm seems to be open mornings every day apart from bank holidays/ Sunday’s.

Yes, maybe, just need to be careful where you buy any other essential machinery you rely on over Christmas though.?

Yes, there was mention of emergency service being available at a charge, it didn’t say how much but I’d bet I could get a hydraulic hose fixed far cheaper at one of the dealers open mornings than calling the JD dealer

In 2006 when I was working for a JD dealer we were putting a brand new jd 6920s with full spec inc Atrac ready on farm for £44k
Today a 6155r is over £100k, it’s taking the pee, plain and simple ... and farmers keep paying it . Own worst enemy

Thank emissions legislation and the Common Agricultural Policy. Some silly inflation since 2007 too.

local main dealer isnt doing any call outs so not sure what happens if your feeding tractor or loader breaks down, bet your local independant dealer would get you going again.
