So who's next ???

Frank sutton
Smithfield tractors
Mona tractors

Would all be small as independents

TAG Group about the same size as Sharmans

Only guessing so don,t quote me..
Sutton is surrounded by TAG
Smithfield also does Zetor and is fairly small and Rea Valley and Charlies are expansionist.

They are all aware of The Mothership's turnover and sales mix demands. If they meet those demands one way or another they should be OK.

Saw this, the comment made me die. ??

What are the rumours? I have been gone for 4 months so have missed things. Having said that I am guessing Burden bros. have been given the boot for Farols? I only dealt with Burdens for the last 6 months of being in Kent, their service was shocking! They really didn’t deserve a business let alone a premium dealership carrying on like they did, having said that it will be sad for the staff of all of these dealers as it is always the people that are left to suffer.

Brisel we are based 1 mile from burdens and watched new hollands being delivered into burdens pretty frequently after the hole left by jd ,we also trade with Doubleday but with depot almost 20 miles away it wasn't ideal and this went on for almost 3years,top management at jd must have been asleep on the job

it would be interesting to hear what J D has to say about this it would be a shame if they lost frank sutton hes been an agent since the sixties i think, and a good firm to deal with i have also dealt with Sharmans and found them first rate, i think j d need to look at their dealer network from a different angle if i had to drive forty miles to my nearest agent i would change make, i deal with the rep as much as anything if i find he is straight and looks after my interests i will deal with him if he moves there is a good chance i might go too

I wonder what advantage they see in that, considering that they are already market leaders? Is it so that the dealers and the UK office staff can be drastically culled? Is it so that they can virtually run these dealers almost like holding them to ransom?
Or is there a big marketing advantage to them and a service advantage to the customers? Perhaps quality control and efficiency of service would be easier to monitor and improve as well as the 1st pick spares availability through each dealer having a massively bigger park of machines on farms relying on them?

To put this into perspective, some brands with less than one hundred total UK unit sales have more than eight dealers.
