I have to question that. The dealer we used has gone through two rounds of amalgamation and the level of service remains very good. Ok the owners have changed but I am still dealing with very responsive local people. The upside is that Ripon farm services hold a huge amount more stock.
We have found the same

What about farmers who are miles from the depot?
You have a choice to use them and travel or not use them and not have to travel it's not compulsory in life for john Deere to be within a certain distance of every farm if JD miss out on your business its there loss but ultimately it's their decision what business changes they make to their dealer structure I guess they dont question the decisions you make on your farm?

So you wouldnt mind driving 60 miles to get parts?

In the middle of harvest your Baler needs a part, your local dealer doesn’t have it but their other depot (how ever far away does) you wouldn’t think twice about going to collect the part to get you up and running again. It just means all the stock is in one place rather than being spread about the depots!

Big bale north is a good example of service and expertees on one product, distance is not a factor for us.
If these amalgamations allow similar levels at JD dealers then it must be better.
I believe since our dealer got bigger some staff now are working as combine or baler specialists and working on them most of the year.
