What are you planning on growing?
I see they were testing a robot apple picker here last season. Looked impressive (always had someone with it mind) and seems to make sense for certain applications, I'm not sure they'd be much more cost effective for combinable crops though?

I really don't know - its such game changing tech that everything changes

I mean who says I would still be just a combinable crop grower when once away from mono cultures I could maybe grow ceras around trees, fruits and vegetables etc - when you don't need to plan production around labour and large machinery and even weather then many new possibilities become available I guess

This underlines what I was saying about members of the digital cult losing the power of comprehension and intelligent thought. Being only able to express themselves through the medium of emojis belies a poverty of communication skills and analytical ability. The picking of apples is a task that is not too remote from finding teats on a cow and robotic milking has been around for about 25 years, so what's the hold up? Could it be that despite all the hoo ha there isn't the demand for autonomous apple picking when present methods of shaking the tree and picking up the fruit are still economically viable?

Here most of the apples are picked off the tree by hand. The problem is the government has been cutting down on work visas for Pacific islanders and backpackers etc and as they pay bugger all and its only temp work locals wont do it. So now the orchards are realising their cheap labour is drying up and they might want to actually apply themselves to the problem.

I believe for robot picking to work the trees need to be grown/pruned differently.
