My experience is too limited to give anything like definitive answer but one thing I would say is that the gutler closing wheel mod significantly increases chances of success

This is a picture thread I put up in 2009 of one the biggest reasons for failure using a single disk.
http://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread ... =1#M955355

The other issue is not getting the slot closed well. If I can not get the slot closed, be it wet conditions, or any sod roots not allowing the closer to work properly, slugs get into the slot with the seed and its all over in a matter of 24 to 48 hours.

But if I am able to get the residue to cut with the disk, reducing the hairpinning, and get the slot closed well, I have great success.

IMO.

750as are a bit like hen's teeth at the mo.

The key thing seems to be getting decent slot closing, what is the view on the pre sumo Moore undid drills in terms of their effectiveness?

Have used a 6 metre 750a in the past and was really pleased but how does the Moore compare?
