Anyone know the cause or seen a back wheel come off taking the half shaft with it and cracking the trumpet!!!
Do you have a photo of itAnyone know the cause or seen a back wheel come off taking the half shaft with it and cracking the trumpet!!!
6830!!! Happened last night with 12t of tatties on traveling flat out on main roadNow Then..
What model tractor?? There's a screw holding the final drive reduction gears on the inner end of the halfshaft, I've seen them break or come loose, however that was cured 30 years ago by a wire clip to prevent the shaft coming out
The other possibility is that the inner bearing has failed.. :-(
Ouch! Poor man has no luck! Wonder if those big floatations he runs in spring weakened something? Much damage?6830!!! Happened last night with 12t of tatties on traveling flat out on main road
A new meaning to the phrase tatties oor the side!6830!!! Happened last night with 12t of tatties on traveling flat out on main road
that crossed my mind too no other damage others than the main bitsOuch! Poor man has no luck! Wonder if those big floatations he runs in spring weakened something? Much damage?
I have a picture somewhere of a Massey with a failed half shaft which spends a fair bit of time on wide floatations on. Once we repaired it we noticed the other half shaft has started to crack. My father still won't sell the bloody thingsOuch! Poor man has no luck! Wonder if those big floatations he runs in spring weakened something? Much damage?
This is a 40k, if the bolt has broke what's the worst scenario I presume it will have minced up planetary gears ectWell as it is a 6830 they have no spring clip to hold inner bearing on the half shaft. There are two scenarios I can think of that will allow half shaft to move.
1. (Most likely - inner bearing has collapsed, a common fault on early 30 series particularly 50K models), this would allow half shaft to move enough to break the bolt holding half shaft.
2. The bolt has unwound due to a missing or broken locking tab.
Well unlikely to have mashed the planetary gears due to the fact they are more a less contained in the housing. If bearing has collapsed then filings will have likely filled the bearings on planetary gears, taken chips out of some of the gears, damaged friction brake disk along with piston and pressure plate. This is all worst case tho! This is a 40k, if the bolt has broke what's the worst scenario I presume it will have minced up planetary gears ect
