Johnston, miner strike.

Sure he, ll lose votes in Northern England buy saying what he said, l think there is still bad feelings about those how went to work and those how striked even nearly 40 years ago.

I would say it was a deliberate move to create a headline away from the fishing problems and all the offshore turbine industry being based abroad.
Also set a beautiful bear trap for Starmer that he stumbled right in to.
Pretty stupid joke really. Northern brexit votes are based on local jobs for local people attitudes. Rather like the miners strike.

Exactly, and the Tories are trying to open up a new pit in Cumbria that Labour are opposing. If he just said Labour are opposing this pit the headlines would all be about how the Tories don’t care about the environment. Doing this now, what can Starmer say in Parliament?

Everything Thatcher did would have happened anyway; the only thing that she did was speed the process up. I concede that it could have been handled a lot more sensitively, however but the unions were having none of it.

Johnson is no idiot, I've heard he is ruthless and has a mind like a razor.
Yep, he's sharp, very. As for Mrs T, the NUM had to be broken as a union and anti-democratic force - and it was a force. But, as PM, she had a duty to rebuild the communities once that had been achieved, she didn't and seemed to ignore the plight of them. (Don't get me wrong, overall I am a great admirer of her.)

Scargil and Mick magakie were true union men, my brother in law used to know someone that worked at the miners union office and they had a massive coal fire on everyday of the year. My dad went down and pit when he was young just for an hr and always said he would just keep farming. Didn't like the conditions. That was in the 40s.

I agree the unions were way out of order but it is a sad day for a country when the police are beating down the working man or waving their pay cheques at people. That is the very essence of a class war and was totally wrong on all levels. The miners and the communities they came from were a valuable asset that should have been gently helped into other industries or regions.

The man has a working grasp of 4 different languages and used to teach latin. He may well play the fool and have any number of other faults but he is anything but daft.
The attention span of a fish even less when there is a bitch in heat.
As for a razor like mind well I think the judgement of many would be using Occams Razor.

I think he is actually quite daft. Academic intelligence(s) has always had a fairly low correlation with the making of good choices. He does not appear to exhibit strong levels of wisdom or integrity. Therefore the mental gymnastics that his brain may be capable of performing do not seem to advance his capabilities for the job in which he finds himself.
